Description

I'd love to read a clear description of how you get 11 channels of audio out of 3 devices... (not counting the audio or 'atmos' channels). Even just a list of drive units and where they are. Further connectivity is supplied via AirPlay 2, Alexa MRM and Chromecast built-in so users can listen to music and podcasts in high definition, and linking the Bar 1300 to a voice assistant enabled device grants access to Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri for hands free control. This is probably one area where we felt the soundbar was a small letdown. While with other flagships, namely the Samsung HW-Q990B, we could hardly reach their max volume this was not the case here. Don’t get us wrong, the Bar 1300X can get loud, satisfyingly loud. It was just not to the extremes you would expect from such a flagship. The JBL Bar 1300 is an impressive addition to the brand’s soundbar range, upping the ante compared to the earlier Bar 9.1 with its immersive 11.1.4 layout, while also offering a genuine alternative to competing spatial audio systems from the likes of LG and Samsung.

To ensure this spatially acoustic hemisphere is cohesive and balanced, there’s an auto-calibration feature that you run using the remote or control app. Follow the instructions on the screen and in a few minutes you’ll have a calibrated system with any sonic aberrations in the room corrected. So, if you’re looking for a sound system for movies and movies only, and you tend to do your watching solo or with one other person, the 1300X is one you might want to audition despite its shortcomings. As for Dolby Atmos, we can admit that we were expecting a bit more than what we actually heard. Seeing that the front channels featured dual up-firing drivers in different angles we were hoping for something better. But the Bar 1300X did not behave much different that what we heard with the Bar 1000. There’s a problem with this, though: look at the well-built and attractive remote control and you’ll see no buttons for Smart Mode or PureVoice or anything of the sort. Accessing these features requires that you memorize a laundry list of secret handshakes that have no logical correlation with what they do.

Features

The front stage was really active. The soundbar may not be the most wide we have seen but nevertheless its sound expansion was. With dual side firing channels and its MultiBeam technology at play there was a lot going on at the front of us. Now let’s talk about all the extra features that are included and we will start with the audio formats supported. Audio Formats & technologies With a 12-inch driver powered by 650 watts, the JBL system's subwoofer is a true bass beast. (Image credit: Future) JBL Bar 1300X soundbar review: Design This tech uses digital signal processing (DSP) to detect human speech from within a TV or movie program and extracts the voice content for analysis and improvement. It dynamically enhances the dialogue loudness for crystal-clear intelligibility without affecting other sounds. This enhancement happens automatically, so you never have to reach for the remote control to hear dialogue. PureVoice can be turned on and off depending your preferences. The system's re-chargeable surrounds are completely wire-free, and can also be used as portable Bluetooth speakers. (Image credit: Future) JBL Bar 1300X soundbar review: Sound quality

Samsung's new flagship soundbar, the HW-990C, offers up 11.1.4 channels of sound alongside Samsung's Q-Symphony 3.0 tech, which is designed to "precisely direct individual audio elements" by way of using the soundbar and your Samsung TV's speakers. With both TV speakers and the soundbar in play, Samsung says that Q-Symphony can leverage up to 22 channels of audio in total. Ponorte sa do 3D zvuku v kino kvalite. S dvomi nahor smerujúcimi meničmi v hlavnej jednotke a dvomi ďalšími v odnímateľných reproduktoroch, JBL Bar 1300 prináša skutočný Dolby Atmos® a DTS:X spolu s MultiBeam™ pre vylepšený 3D priestorový zvuk. Skutočný priestorový zvuk s odnímateľnými priestorovými reproduktormi The JBL Bar 1300 is an impressive flagship model from the brand, significantly upping the ante compared to the earlier Bar 9.1 while also offering a viable alternative to competitors like LG and Samsung when it comes to fully immersive Dolby Atmos and DTS:X wireless soundbar systems. If you like audio kit, you'll be well aware of the JBL name. This is a brand with a reputation for seriously high-end audio kit, from the L100 Classic speakers to the Synthesis SDR-35 AV amplifier, but that also produces a vast range of more affordable devices such as headphones, wireless speakers and soundbars.

Granted, the sub is tuned more for movies than music, which is something we’ll dive deeper into in a bit. But if what matters to you most when shopping for a subwoofer is bass that goes “BOOM,” there’s a lot to love about this one. HDMI inputs galore

Now the range topping Bar 1300 has been announced at CES 2023 and sees the 15-channel soundbar (in an 11.1.4 configuration) use 6 up-firing drivers, two detachable battery-powered wireless speakers and a wireless 10-inch subwoofer to deliver 1,170W of power. With Harman’s Multibeam technology helping to create an immersive audio experience with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X content, the surround sound experience will enhance movies, TV shows and games. The installation and set up only takes a few minutes. The soundbar and subwoofer are automatically paired when the power is turned on. The first time you use the soundbar, you must manually pair it with the surround speakers, after which the pairing is done automatically the next time you use the soundbar. Automatic calibration takes just a few minutes from a smartphone using the JBL One app. The first calibration step involves placing the two surround speakers in the listeners’ positions for a first set of measurements. The second step is to place the speakers in their final location for a second set of measurements. Then, the speakers must be precisely directed towards the listeners. More power and more channels give the JBL greater impact and energy during action scenes. However, the LG S95QR’s front channels are more accurate and have more vertical range. The latter also offers more flexibility in the configuration of the different channels to customize the sound. For music, on the other hand, the JBL was the most impressive. Samsung HW-Q990B Compared to the Samsung HW-Q990B soundbar, the JBL Bar 1300 compensates for its lesser vertical range with an energy that immediately immerses you in the atmosphere of the program being viewed.Remember that these speakers need about 3.5 hours to recharge and can offer up to 10 hours of use. We did our own measurements and it seems that these numbers are indeed close to our findings. Streaming Max Richter’s Tranquility II and III from SLEEP: Tranquility Base, the pipe organ and keyboards had a smooth and natural presentation that was easy on the ears, and the system’s subwoofer did an excellent job of reproducing the lowest organ notes. The vocals soared above all of this in an impressive way, with the JBL soundbar creating an almost cathedral-like sense of space.
