To satisfy my curiousity I put a power meter on it, and found with the usual setting I have that it consumes around 650 watt. It eaaily heats my 18x12 front room, somethng the 800W Bambino barely managed and the 2kW Challege didn't come close to heating. Hearst UK is the trading name of the National Magazine Company Ltd, 30 Panton Street, Leicester Square, London, SW1Y 4AJ. Whilst, it does put out a decent amount of heat, even just on the 2nd of it's three heat settings, I find that it (still) gives off a strange odour, very hard to describe not burning smell as such but a noticeable odour that isn't pleasant. Other than that this is a good reliable product and the heat it gives off is a long lasting comfortable heat far superior to fan heaters.

Bought it just over a year ago but it has only had a couple of days (non continuous) use when I first got it just to test it as it was bought just in reserve in case an existing heater failed. Also, I'd recommend using it with a timer switch, that way you could use an awkward wall plug up without having to fumble behind your furniture to switch it on or off. It takes a while to heat an average size room, but its easy to forget about it once you relax in the heat! We've used it a fair bit (our conservatory is also our dining room) for over a year, with no ill effects, and it still works great.

I think if we had not wanted the machine in operation quickly we may have tried to find a white heater. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products.

Living in Isle of Skye (Highlands) our central heating is by oil and we have a small wood burner in the lounge. Electric radiators (all of them) are pretty much 100% efficient, so turn all of the electrical energy in to heat. The controls are simple - 3 heat settings, and a thermostat - this has worked reliably and keeps the room its in a nice balanced tempature. If you use the thermostat it does maintain a steady temperature - this works better than I expected. I use it in my bedroom with an electrical plug-in thermostat which has been a very good economical set-up. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Air is drawn in at the bottom, heated by the main radiant heat of the radiator and then expelled at the top. On full this gives off a surprising amount of heat, the Ventrilo feature definitely works and if you put your hand above it, you feel an almost warm breeze. Mains gas per "unit" is cheaper than electricity, so gas central heating would be cheaper than having a house full of these heaters. However I have not had it on the highest third setting since I first turned it on, and for the most part it has been on the lowest setting, setting 1, lowest that is except for the frost safety setting.I was quite surprised to see setting 2 being so close to the same power consumption as setting 1, but there you go.

The trick is to use them only when needed and to keep them set as low as possible to keep comfortable. It actually suggests running the heater outside on full for a few hours but it's so wet and damp I wouldn't feel happy putting an electrical appliance outside and I've never heard of this 'gassing' before sounds like it could be nonsense? Made to be used over longer periods of time compared with inferior radiators, the Vento uses diathermic oil to release heat gradually, while a chimney effect strongly pushes the outgoing airflow, making the air hotter and circulate around the room more. kW of heat output, the Vento is perfect for larger rooms or for boosting existing heat sources around the home.My view is NO electrical appliance should be used in the bathroom unless it is designed for bathroom use and it correctly wired in by an electrician. Obviously it's better design outweighed the bigger heating element, and I ended swapping the rads between rooms.
