Description

Marmalade was an extrememly naughty and mischevious girl - rather like a female Dennis the Menace in many ways.

I know Charlotte Coleman was the star (later in Four Weddings and a Funeral and the sitcom, How Do You Want Me? For this series, Marmalade had now left school and had a new social worker who was Wendy Wooley after Mrs Allgood had finally had enough.Much video style special effects and bad Chroma key ensues along with a barrage of pantomime like performances, setting the anarchic house style for the series that would follow. I hoped that the episode would feature some random red-haired women and now rather bad-looking special effects, and I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, she's so wicked that her parents and social worker decide that the only thing to do with her is to blast her into space. Coleman was the first of two daughters born to actress Ann Beach and Canadian-born television producer Francis Coleman.

Glenfiddick (John Fortune), Marmalade continually gets expelled from school due to her disruptive behaviour. I don't remember this but wiki said the first TV appearance was in a one off "Marmalade Atkins in Space" adaption.Quite a few famous folk in the cast, and think they were all mentioned in the " Game On" thread: John Bird ( as Marmalade's dad) *and* John Fortune, Una Stubbs ( as a French Teacher who keeps bursting into song), Brian Glover and Dudley Sutton ( as nuns in the rough-as-fuck boarding school run by nuns), Lynda La Plante ( in her final acting role as Marmalade's near permanently pissed- up mum), probs quite a few others.
