The success of the Buggles led to Downes and Horn joining Yes for the Drama album and the associated tour in 1980. Downes was the first member of the band to have completed a music degree.

In 2006, Downes reunited the original Asia lineup and rejoined Yes in 2011; he is currently a member of both groups. Since 1998, he has reunited with Horn on special occasions to perform songs from the Buggles. Downes entered the Guinness Book of Records for performing with a record 28 keyboards on stage in a single performance. [3] Early life [ edit ] In 1980, Horn married the music executive Jill Sinclair, who became his manager. [31] Sinclair told him that as an artist he would always be "second division", but if he pursued production he would become the best in the world. [14] In the 1980s, Horn incorporated samples into pop music using a Fairlight CMI synthesiser. In 1981, Horn became a full-time producer, working on successful songs and albums for acts including Dollar, ABC, Malcolm McLaren, Yes, and Frankie Goes to Hollywood. He ventured into business with his wife Jill Sinclair, purchasing Sarm West Studios and establishing the publishers Perfect Songs and their own label, ZTT Records. In the following year, Horn co-formed the electronic group Art of Noise. He achieved hits in the following decades with Seal and t.A.T.u. He has performed with the supergroup Producers, later known as the Trevor Horn Band, since 2006. Horn toured as the bass player in Dire Straits Legacy in 2018–20. Pete Selby, publishing director, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Andrew Gordon at David Higham Associates for publication in October 2022. Horn produced the ninth album by the synth-pop duo the Pet Shop Boys, Fundamental, released in May 2006. It reached No. 5 in the UK chart. In the same month, he featured in a Pet Shop Boys concert specially recorded for BBC Radio 2. Horn produced an album version of the event, Concrete, released on 23 October 2006. Horn also produced Captain's debut album, This is Hazelville, released late 2006. In the same year, he also worked with British band Delays on their song "Valentine", which was released as the lead single from their album You See Colours. He has also worked with John Legend and David Jordan.Johnson, Brent (8 September 2011). "Interview: Geoff Downes of Yes". Pop-break.com. Archived from the original on 10 July 2015 . Retrieved 29 June 2014. Horn co-produced Mike Oldfield's 1992 album Tubular Bells II alongside Oldfield and Tom Newman. Oldfield was a fan of the Buggles song "Video Killed The Radio Star" and described Horn as like being a judge in a courtroom when presenting some of his ideas for the album, to which Horn would either nod or shake his head. This, according to Oldfield, gave him a kind of a filter for which ideas worked. The big budgets, the bad behaviour (Horn has to be physically restrained from punching Yes’ Chris Squire in the face at one point), the jet-setting (Concorde is mentioned more than once) and the enormous amounts of time spend in lavish studios, are now largely a product of a bygone age, so the ‘modern’ in the title is something of a misnomer, or perhaps said with a tongue firmly in cheek. However the music endures and these accounts of the sessions that created that music –Trevor blowing his own horn –are both as entertaining and as enlightening as you would hope for. Highly recommended. Gregory, Andy. International Who's Who in Popular Music 2002. p. 143. Routledge, 2002. ISBN 978-1-85743-161-2 Jill’s accident [she was mistakenly shot by an air rifle at their home in 2006, which left her severely brain damaged] obviously had an impact on us all – some of us more than others – and we’re still dealing with it in different ways. But the family is still together and that is the important thing.
