Council chiefs said communication companies including Virgin Media do not require planning permission to install the boxes. This is an absolute unit of a nodal cabinet (virtual hub). The large chassis is generally used as part of FTTP based deployments and you’ll normally see one for every 3,000 homes. Cabinets like this tend to be flanked by the smaller cabinet above, which is often acting as a power supply. I’m confident I can undertake the work myself as i’ve done a few phone extensions and rewired coax connections but wanted peoples thoughts first?

Mr Devlin believes the installation of such boxes by broadband companies, should have to go through the planning process. NatWest, RBS and Ulster Bank to close at least 172 branches in 2023/24 – here's the full list, plus alternativesChambers and manholes come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. As such the easiest solution is for us to try and list some of the common markings and associate them to primary networks (we probably won’t get all of them due to the complex history of different networks and ownerships). Autumn Statement: Workers to pay less in national insurance – but rate cuts don't offset the freezing of personal tax thresholds A few remote rural parts of the UK were connected up via Openreach’s niche WTTC service, which is similar to their hybrid fibre FTTC (VDSL2) broadband network except that in this setup the DSLAM cabinet is fed by a Microwave (radio) wireless link instead of fibre optic cable.

The Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has today (Wednesday 22 November) announced a range of tax, benefits and savings measures. We round up the key announcements and what they mean for you. We need to know where the cabinet is; providing a street name and post code is great, pointing out any landmarks or junctions nearby will help us ensure we're reporting the correct cabinet) Testing and activation: Once the installation is complete, the technician will test the connection and make sure everything is working correctly. You may need to activate your account online or over the phone before you can start using the broadband service

I would like to understand the cabling between the outside wall entry point and the internal virgin kit. Running internal cables is really tough in my house (wooden floors, not wanting surface running to spoil the decor etc) - so trying to work out which cables are needed where. Martin Lewis: What the Autumn Statement means for you – including wages, benefits, pensions, ISAs, housing, national insurance and more A typical underground chamber will usually have several markings, sometimes around the edges and usually in the centre. You’ll probably see a generic heart shaped symbol (British Standard) and various British / European standard codes like EN124 or B125 etc. None of these tell you much about what’s below, they just identify the standard of lid/chamber and what kind of environment it’s intended for (road, pedestrian etc.). Suffice to say that some local streets are starting to become cluttered and yet many people will understandably struggle to identify what is actually being installed in their neighbourhood(s). As a result of that we’ve put together a simplified guide to help you identify some or all of the kit being installed.

Granted at a certain age saying the word “ manhole” might well have resulted in furious giggles from across the room but we older folk know better (ehumm..) and in this case we’re talking about underground chambers, which usually house all sorts of networking wonders; as well as the occasional horror. Autumn Statement: State pension confirmed to rise by 8.5% from April 2024 – while some benefits will go up by 6.7% Book the right slot: It may seem obvious, but you'll have to be at home when the engineer arrives to set you up. Having apoken to a fair few Virgin Media technicians in our time, we can tell you you would be amazed how many people either forget or simply book a time that was never convenient in the first place Before the TiVo box, Virgin Media offered the V+ box, which was first introduced in 2008. The V+ box offered features such as pause, rewind, and record live TV, as well as the ability to store up to 80 hours of content. The V+ box also supported high-definition content and offered a range of on-demand content. Overall, Virgin Media has continually updated its set-top boxes to offer users the latest technology and features, ensuring that its customers have access to the best possible viewing experience.

Unlike previous set-top boxes from Virgin, the TV 360 only needs a Virgin Media broadband connection either wired or over wifi. Previous boxes relied on the same coaxial cable that delivers your broadband being routed to wherever you have your TV, which could cause some installation headaches. The fact you now only need wifi makes installation of the TV 360 much, much easier. NOTE: There is also a smaller VMSD0 distribution cabinet for handling up to 16 homes but we don’t have any pictures of it, only diagrams.
