Description

Frank holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Information Systems and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). The Fractal Node 804 may not look like it will breathe well due to that 2/3 solid front face, but it actually does a very reasonable job. As this is designed for smaller motherboards there can be a bit of a learning curve if you have not installed an m-ITX or m-ATX board before but these are not so much down to the case as it is learning where things are on the motherboard and remembering that when it comes time to build with it. In the hard drive compartement using a standard 800ish Watt ATX power supply with hard drives (seagate 8tb ironwolves) installed, there’s hardly any room for hard drive data and power connectors.

You’re right on with the fan controller, and as I mentioned in the article that I prefer to have the MB in control of them so I have a separate fan controller ready to go.It does require a Micro-ATX or Mini-ITX motherboard, but it’s quite possibly the best case in this list. The Node 804 is easy to pick up and move around, is a great size for what you can pack within, and internally is quite adaptable. It's compact enough to fit inside a TV stand but has more than enough internal space for a capable media PC. Three Fractal Design Silent Series R2 fans included with the case and space for an additional 7 fans. Users will also note the Fractal Design logo on the right-hand side and the nice big vented area across the bottom to make sure users are taking advantage of all the great cooling features.

It requires a spot that can handle a case that’s slightly wider than the traditional tower form factor, but once you’ve got it up and running, you’ll have no issues with thermals for the main components or storage drives. Compute loads were also purely synthetic in nature and again, subject to the environment in how the system dealt with it.The components for the test build are based on what I had on hand combined with my future plans for the Fractal Node 804 and the desire to test out various options to build something that could be challenging for both thermals and noise. If you’re going to build a NAS, you might as well plan for the future, and that’s where the JONSBO D500 fits in well – don’t build a NAS thinking you need six hard drives and actually need ten – get the room for those hard drives up front! I used this case to build a NAS earlier this year and found that it’s not up to the normal Fractal design standard.

The Node 804 comes with 3x fans pre-installed as standard which offer a decent amount of airflow to help and keeps thing inside cool. We’re going to take a closer look at the design, features, thermal performance, and how easy it is to build and maintain a NAS inside the Fractal Design Node 804. The Fractal Design Node 804 is one of the company’s smaller cases with full support for server deployment. So if you're wanting to create your own server at home (or for the office), read on to find out why I recommend you purchase one of these for your next build.

On the back of the box is an illustration and descriptive breakdown of the individual components that make up the Fractal Design Node 804. The Swedish brand has been making sleek-looking cases for many years and we’ve only recently taken a look at the Node 804. The obvious requirement for most people is to determine how many total hard drives you’ll need first. The CPU and GPU in this build are capable of producing quite a bit more performance and a corresponding amount heat to go with it. i got a Problem with my Dashboard, after i finished programming some Nodes and adding their data to the Dashboard, i shut my raspberry down.
