Moon-Face is so named for his round face that looks like the moon. His house is similarly round and is filled with curved furniture. He is the owner of the slippery-slip, a slide which starts in the middle of his house which lets you slide down to the bottom of the Faraway Tree instead of climbing down. It is used as a means of exiting the tree and has played an important part in some of the adventures, where others have sought control of the tree or their rooms; Soon after Enid Blyton was born in 1897. Throughout the 40 and 50s, Enid wrote books at a colossal pace: adventure stories, mysteries, magical stories, farming stories, stories for younger children, best-selling series like The Famous Five and Noddy...her writing knew no bounds! The second thing to note is that if you read this book as a child then all four children in the modern edition will have changed their names!

I'm visiting my eldest daughter and my three month old granddaughter this weekend. My daughter and I got to talking about children's books and I began telling her about The Faraway Tree. She interrupted me to say that I'd bought them for her when she was young. I'd forgotten! Reading a book aloud gives you a different outlook on a writer’s style, its rhythm and meter, vocabulary and narrative flourishes. Blyton’s work is an absolute pleasure to read aloud, with a wonderful flow and even though dated, the language is infectious – I found myself using Blyton-esque phrases in regular conversation, “oh, how absolutely tremendous!”, “that’s a simply marvellous idea!”, etc. We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life with the support to reach their full potential.The Faraway Tree Series written by the much beloved Enid Blyton was one of my favorite book series when I was a kid. In fact, I’d be wrong to say it was. The book still is, and will always be very close to my heart. I love this book, it is awesome. I love the characters and that they are different. It is such an imaginative story. It really inspires others to write about creative fiction.I really do recommend this book. 📚📚 They arrived at last at the tiny station where they were to get out. A sleepy-looking porter put their two bags on a barrow, and said he would bring them along later. Off they all went down the winding country lane, chattering loudly. I thought this was my all time favourite whilst growing up. When I first read it when I was 9 I thought it was magical and even after all these years it has fond memories for me and will forever be in my book of happy memories . This delightful story from classic children's author Enid Blyton was first published in 1939 and has delighted children ever since. This new edition has been given a more modern face-lift - for example, changing the children's names (originally Joe, Bessie and Fanny) for more contemporary-sounding alternatives - but all the fun and magic of Blyton's original has been retained for a new generation of readers.

My love for this book goes beyond words and deep inside, i guess it'll always be my favourite novel seeing that it was the first one I read. Okay, now I'm going to stop rambling and get right to the point. When Joe, Beth and Frannie move into a new home, they discover a mysterious wood on their very doorstep. Soon, they discover that it's actually an Enchanted Wood, and home to a wonderful Faraway Tree. We're rooting for Darrell Rivers as she starts boarding school, andlearns to cope with her fiery temper and decide for herself which friends are genuine. We've got the gnome for you too," said Jo, as he pointed up into the tree. "He went up there. If you surround the tree and wait, you will be able to catch him as he comes down." The book starts off with a family moving to the countryside. The three children, Joe, Beth and Fanny are very excited about the idea of countryside. They think up of all the fun that they will have there. So when they spend their first evening out in the woods, they are nothing but surprised. Because you know, the trees whisper there. Or at least, the sound is as if they whisper! And that is how their adventure starts! Or well, when they find the faraway tree but it's sort of the same. They wouldn't have found the tree if not for the enchanted wood.

In the first novel in the series, Jo, Bessie and Fanny (edited to Joe, Beth and Frannie in revised editions) move to live near a large forest, which the locals call "The Enchanted Wood". One day they go for a walk in the wood and discover it really is enchanted. They encounter a group of elves who have been robbed of important papers by a gnome. They chase the gnome and recover the papers, but the gnome himself escapes up a huge tree whose branches seem to reach into the clouds. This is the Faraway Tree. Jo, Bessie and Fanny come to live at the edge of the Enchanted Wood where the trees, "a darker green than usual," whisper their secrets: "Wisha-wisha-wisha." In the wood is the Faraway Tree — a huge tree inhabited by fairy-folk and laden with fruit of all kinds from acorns to lemons. Its topmost branches lead to ever-changing magical lands above the swirling clouds. The first title of the main trilogy, The Enchanted Wood, was published in 1939, although the Faraway Tree and Moon-Face had already made a brief appearance in 1936 in The Yellow Fairy Book. A picture-strip book, Up the Faraway Tree, was published in 1951. Some' feel the youngest sister was fat shamed for helping herself to too many toffees "because she was a very greedy girl"...as most young kids are when face to face with delicious candy. I have 10 grandchildren, and I have to put my foot down all the time and say, "That's enough!" No shame there. That's just the nature of kids. Yes. They are all greedy with candy and want more and more! Three books make up the Faraway Tree trilogy by Enid Blyton: The Enchanted Wood, The Magic Faraway Tree and The Folk of the Faraway Tree. For many, they are the most magical of the stories that Enid Blyton wrote, and their first introduction to the author.

Following the resounding success of my Locus Quest, I faced a dilemma: which reading list to follow it up with? So when I began reading The Enchanted Wood, all I had read was its title. Yep, you got me right. I hadn't even read the blurb. I mean, I had thought of reading it but then I thought, eh, it's an Enid Blyton book. I'll love it either way. So I didn't read it and jumped into it without a single thought in my mind. And guess what? I was not disappointed despite that!

Let's go out and see what the country round about is like," said Jo. "Can you spare us for an hour, Mother?" They were so tired that they could do nothing but drink hot milk, eat a few biscuits, and tumble into their roughly-made beds. Jo looked out of the window but he was too sleepy to see properly. Sometimes its top braches may be in Witchland, sometimes in lovely countries, sometimes in peculiar places that no one has ever heard of. We never climb it because we never know what might be at the top!" Suddenly Jo nudged Bessie and Fanny. He had seen something else. The girls saw it too. An ugly, gnome-like fellow was creeping up silently behind the meeting on the toadstools. None of the brownies saw him or heard him.
