The characters are so special. So very special. Real, beautifully crafted, and brilliantly broken. I couldn’t love them more!

Now I am trying to keep this review spoiler-free, but I am afraid, I have to give some things away, to explain myself...If you don't want to read any spoilers about this book...please skip my review ...or better yet skip all of them, and just jump in ;) It is the best way to read a book after all !! Knight and Luna have been best friends their entire lives. The type of relationship they have is more than just your average teen romance, and Broken Knight is more than just your average NA novel. It's the single most emotional and impactful story Leigh has ever written. Oh my word, the relationship between these two is a wild one. It's all smooth sailing and then a ginormous wave crashes over them and at various times each is caught in the undertow. The love they have for one another is as deep as the ocean they visit, but it's equally as dark. Fraught with tension and a lifetime of half truths, Broken Knight finds Knight Cole and Luna Rexroth grappling with the realities of growing up. Knight's mother's health is failing, Luna is forced to find strength in herself, and together or apart, the two must finally face their long buried feelings. At times it was hard to continue reading, I did cry (are you surprised) quite a bit, but I also found myself so angry, matching the emotions of the characters. The push and pull in this novel can be overwhelming and admittedly takes this novel into a different territory than the previous associated novels did for me. It was difficult to see light at the end, L.J. Shen really outdid herself with the angst this time, but just like every mountain you overcome, Broken Knight gives readers a beautiful peak at the top. Our love always had a pulse. Sometimes it was faint. Sometimes it was beating so hard I couldn't hear anyone else. But it would never die. It can't. I won't let it."The whole world already knew - Broken Knight is LJ's bookish baby, so IT can't be anything less that million stars masterpiece, right? But Broken Knight is so much more, L. J. Shen shamelessly created PURE PERFECTION with new rank, for every future book with category " Broken Knight" and the rest of the stories which want to be… Broken Knight. I won’t tell You too much about Kinght or even Luna, about plot, twists, ups and downs, take my advice and go blind into this book as much as only You can be … blind. When the right time shows up – grab Your book, start to read and savour every moment – this adventure will be really speciall from the beginning till seeing „the end” in front of Your eyes.

Using the Dream Nail on the husk afterwards brings the Knight to a dream. There, Lost Kin, a stronger form of Broken Vessel, still taken over by Lightseeds, can be fought. After its defeat, the spirit of Broken Vessel floats above its husk. Appearing unmarred, it offers the Knight a silent bow before shattering into 400 Essence to be collected by the Dream Nail. I don’t know anyone who was left unmoved after reading this story! It shreds your soul into tiny little pieces! Destroys you. The author does it so gently with so much forewarning, almost cuddling you through the tenacious moments you can’t even be mad at all the torment she has put the readers through.

All the same way....Love Luna, her strength, character development, sacrifices throughout the story won my heart! Her silent acts, her blunt honesty, her humbleness slowly drew me out of my ruthless toxic heart and made me fall for her. This is a book that is not only about falling in love; but about forgiveness and healing too. You feel Lunight’s strong chemistry and their need for each other in your heart, in your blood and in your bones. LJ Shen always manages to give you a great and interesting insight into both characters’ lives and no one else manages to change POVs as well as she does. Knight and Luna come from tight knit families and a group of friends that clearly love and care about each other . Luna is a selective mute and knight is adopted with his adopted mum terminally ill. Together they try to navigate their strong connection (since birth), falling in love while being teenagers and facing many hurdles . They are best friends who are clearly meant to be together but need to do a lot of growing up first ! I loved it and definitely recommend reading it ! Not all love stories are written the same way. Ours had torn chapters, missing paragraphs, and a bittersweet ending.

I also loved how similar to Dean Knight was. How he used alcohol/drugs to drown his feelings when he was avoiding the reality of Rosie's health, the pain of having Luna the way he always wanted for a short time, only to lose her again, and finding out why exactly his birth mother gave him up.. The overlap between father and son was amazing. When life throws a curveball at All Saints’ golden boy, he’s forced to realize not all knights are heroes. I want to start by saying that LJ Shen is one of those authors that have exponentially grown on me. And I totally mean it. I think her writing just keeps getting better and better and I’ve definitely become a fan. Like a huge fan, no lie.Most kids liked fighting each other. Not me. I only wanted to hurt myself. When my body ached, my heart didn’t. Simple math, and a pretty good deal. I Felt pure agony I didn't even understand it myself how a mere book can have this kinda effect on me! Should we get the positives out of the way before I rant and you lose interest in this review? All of the side characters. That's it. I loved seeing Emilia and Vicious (though the latter was still absent from the plot and had about three lines). I liked seeing the Cole family and their unique dynamic. It was heartbreaking seeing how close they all were and how much Dean, Knight, and Lev relied on Rosie to thrive. I wasn't a fan of Dean and Rosie's book in the slightest, but only the complete unemotional wouldn't be heartbroken by the progression of their story in Broken Knight. Which I might touch on later. Though this certain plot point and the way it was presented was so touching and emotional I couldn't help reacting to it. The reason it was included, however, isn't a positive feeling.

The storyline blew me away, seriously. I’m a lover of this author’s books but wow, this book was just so much more than the others.

Everyone deserves to experience this book to the fullest extent. I honestly can't imagine it any other way. All of this author's characters are amazing though, so you won't regret reading their stories. It will be so worth it. I promise you that.
