If, however, you have been there yourself or been closely involved with those experiencing it, it could well feel like something of a missed opportunity - even patronising, the show's writers missing some knowledge to infuse the construct. The Little Big Things is a vibrant and uplifting new British musical that paints a vivid picture of resilience and personal growth, reminding us that it’s the small, seemingly insignificant moments that hold the greatest significance. For those who have been fortunate enough to remain untouched by sudden or even gradual onset of disability, this is going to be an uplifting and affirming production.

All success in an enterprise comes from valuing and engaging people, The Economic Times, 6 August 2010 Bus numbers: (Tottenham Ct Rd Station) 7, 10, 14, 24, 29, 73, 134, 242; (New Oxford St) 1, 8, 25, 55, 98, 176, 390 Gracie McGonigal as Henry’s potential first love Katie gives a wonderfully phased performance, part child, part strong woman and delivers one of the most moving moments with a lightness making it all the more impactful. Can Mum and Dad rally his three brothers; as the family start a journey to overcome the unimaginable? Huffington Post, 1 April 2010 Tom Peters' Little BIG Things Is Excellent Read, Excellent Resource, Serve to Lead Blog, 11 May 2010 I’ve just had the most exciting night in a theatre for years. The Little Big Things is an all British musical and it’s a total triumph" - Andrew Lloyd Webber The Little Big Things is on until 25th November at @sohoplace - please do go and see it, it’s inspiring, life-affirming, beautifully constructed and performed and will stay with you for a very long time.

An extraordinary true story about an ordinary family. When one moment changes everything, Henry’s family are split between a past they no longer recognise, and a future they could never foresee. Can Mum and Dad rally his three brothers; as the family start a journey to overcome the unimaginable? Paralysed from the shoulders down in an accident at age just 17, Henry Fraser wrote a best selling autobiography about his experiences.

Moreover, while there is a single humorous scene involving a painfully trapped part of the anatomy, true realities of disabled life - the humiliation of double incontinence, the constant form filling and horrific bureaucratic incompetence and brutality, simply just the living by the minute stress, are ignored in a missed opportunity.

There is turning negative into positive, which is the thrust of this story, but there is also fundamental truth – and this show’s weakness is never quite reaching (or being unwilling to even try to reach) the roots, the heart, the centre of the concept it sets out to explore. This true-story about Henry Fraser, a man who was paralysed from the shoulders down after an accident, will premier at Soho Place from 9 September until 25 November. When I was 17, I had an accident and it changed my life,” says Henry as he circles the stage in his wheelchair. If Ed Larkin as central character Henry does not quite find the rhythm of his opening and closing speeches, he makes up for it for the most part in his interactions with his earlier self (eager Jonny Amies) and his brothers. Speaking about the show, Fraser told BBC News, “There have been many things that have happened since my accident that I never thought about in life, never planned and really surprised me, in a great way. This musical is one of those moments. The guys have been great to work with and the moment they played me a couple of songs I was sold.”This uplifting and colourful new musical is a life-affirming reminder about the transformative power of family, and how sometimes it really is the little things which matter the most.
