Description

There are times where nails or screws should be used for attaching skirting boards to walls. The need for nails really comes down to what you are fixing your skirting on to and how even the walls are.

Strong adhesives such as Gripfill are without a doubt the easiest way to attach your skirting to the wall but they can be troublesome with walls that are not even – which is a common problem even in modern homes. Then position the skirting, hold it in place with yer foot whilst you gently tap it along its length with a soft mallet to nicely squish the adhesive in place - chust pressing it firmly into place is fine too. A squeeze of adhesive coming out along the top is good. Ok, now keeping it in place with yer foot, hammer the PPs in just enough so's they grab in the masonry (ie - in the plaster layer). Just tap them in enough to hold - do NOT over-hit them or they are likely to bend and then move the skirting board or break the plaster. When fixing your skirting board to masonry walls you will need to make sure that you use masonry nails or screws. If using the latter, you should start by drilling pilot holes in to the masonry wall before inserting wall plugs that the screws will be fed in to. For nails, you should simply hammer these in around every 50-60cm.

The use of pin (small diameter) nails can also be applied when joining two mitres together. You should apply a small amount of adhesive or PVA glue when joining the two angled pieces but using a couple of small nails will help create the perfect join.

If you find that your walls are not particularly straight then you should use adhesive along with nails/screws.Skirting Line Dedicated】 You no longer need to worry about falling off the skirting lines or rusting the nail holes, which will affect the aesthetics. Skirting Line Dedicated】This non marking nail for skirting is designed specifically for installing skirting lines, so you no longer need to worry about falling off the skirting lines or rusting the nail holes, which will affect the aesthetics. Double-Head Skirting Thread Seamless Nail ------ Our Double Headed Skirting Nails is specifically designed for interior decoration, providing worry-free attachment to skirting boards without the risk of them coming off or the nail holes rusting. This seamless installation enhances the beauty of your interior, giving it a more polished and appealing look. The double-headed design ensures easy and discreet attachment, leaving no visible nail heads or marks. Give Away Special Tools】 This nail specific sleeve tool allows you to place the nail into the sleeve and directly tap it into the wall. The use of nails or screws will help the skirting board to match the shape of the wall as there will be enough strength to flex the board in to position. This will give a better finish and will prevent the skirting from making the wall look more uneven.

Anyways, once you are happy you know how you want it to sit, hammer in these panel pins in the centre of the skirting, and fit them where they'll do the job you want - eg holding the skirting in to follow a line, keeping the skirting running straight, etc. You only want the minimum number of PPs to do this, perhaps 4 or 5 per length. You want them pretty much all the way through the skirting - their little points chust appearing.Using nails in addition to adhesive will allow for a more secure fix. It also eradicates the need to use props to hold the skirting in place while the adhesive sets. High-quality Nails】 The surface is galvanized, can effectively prevent nail corrosion and meet your long-term use needs. Hardware Nails are of hard material, very strong and sharp, and keep the shape and not bend easily when you use.
