I’ve even added a small section of hose and can get 1L water filtered in 1min via gravity feed, no squeezing! It is easy to fill with just a couple of scoops, carry to a dry camp or filter on the spot with a 28mm compatible filter. CNOC VECTO has a seal on the back of the bag, that you can slide off (it’s also attached to the bag so you won’t lose the seal) and just fill it quickly with water. The Clear Flow filter is a combined hollow fibre and activated carbon water filter for all manner of adventures. This makes it tempting to carry inside your pack or bike bag, but this feels a bit reckless due to the possibility of leaks (see next section).

There are lighter options but I like that the Osprey quick connects auto seal when a plug is removed and that the bite valve can be turned off. Hi Philip, I’m attempting to emulate your CNOC dirty water bag connected to a sawyer that is then connected to a Smart water bottle -> using gravity -> and not trying to squeeze filtered water into the Smart bottle. I own several Vecto water bags in different sizes, and I’ve been using them on almost every backpacking and bikepacking trip I’ve taken since 2020. Instead of sitting there squeezing water from a pouch, you can simply hang the Vecto from a tree branch (or doorknob, bike handlebars, hiking pole tripod, etc) and let gravity do the work. I haven’t tested this out in the field yet, but my kitchen tests indicate that the seal is quite watertight and easily holds up to the pressure of filtering just like it would with the BeFree. And if a bag pops and you did not plan to bring any spare bottles you could filter the water with, you might end up in a risky situation. Although it lacks some sturdiness and features that CNOC VECTO has, it’s also a good choice to bring on your outdoor trips. For a multi-month bike route like the Great Divide, riders need 2-3 liters of capacity most of the time and 6-8 liters on occasion. Nevertheless, I had a few worthless (read: old and slow) BeFree filters around that were just collecting dust, and so I started experimenting.

He hopes his experiences will help more people to start their own adventures and appreciate the world surrounding them a little bit more. By using the CNOC Vecto as extra capacity when needed, you can avoid carrying extra containers that spend most of their time empty. One last thoughtful detail: When filtering silty water, the flat lip around the bottom opening works great for catching larger particles as they settle downward, taking some of the load off your filter so it doesn’t clog as quickly. It’s a rare intersection of practical, affordable, and lightweight gear, which is hard to find in the outdoor world! Nalgene says: Whether you keep it in your pocket your purse or your pack it stays neatly tucked away when not in use.

In my experience and that of other users who shared this in various forums, unless you tie the cap very tightly, you might see some leakage from that part. A lightweight and collapsible water bottle that has the ability to attach to pretty much any water filter on the market. Hydration is essential throughout the day while outdoors and the humble water bottle is a firm favourite, these days though they are lighter and crushable with bite-valves and drinking tubes. I’m guessing this is why CNOC recently released the VectoX, made from thicker and tougher material and only about 0.

The gear that is on our “backpacker’s wishlist” that each of us have, the “I wish someone made this” list. The 28mm neck makes this perfect for using a Sawyer or the Hydrobl Versa Flow makes can make the Cnoc a gravity filter system. Compared to Sawyer Squeeze pouches, Platy Bottle, and Evernew Hydration packs, CNOC VECTO weights more than the other options. A water bag seems like a simple thing, but the devil’s in the details, especially for an item so critical to daily trail routine.

Filled Sawyer pouches are wobbly and they do not have sturdy bases you can trust putting your bags on.

I used two sets of pliers to separate the threaded portion of the BeFree from the filter and it works like a champ! There's not a hard bottle out there that's cleaner greener and more flexible than a Platypus SoftBottle. It turns out, with some deft application of force, you can cleanly separate the threaded plastic outer adapter part of the BeFree from the hollow fiber filtering element. The SoftFlask 360ml is a compact, mid sized, lightweight and BPA free water bottle with a soft bite valve, Ideal for trail running. If you use a Sawyer water filter, the Vecto is a MUCH better replacement for the squeeze pouches it came with.Review Summary: The CNOC Vecto water bag is a lightweight and versatile dirty bag that turns popular squeeze-style water filters into gravity filters. After testing numerous water bag options on my camping and backpacking trips, I think that CNOC VECTO is the best alternative water bag I found for the Sawyer Squeeze water filter. The BeFree’s are hopelessly short-lived, slowing down way too much with normal use, even after a two week trip. As for the filter end of the Vecto, the plastic threads attach easily to 28mm threaded filters like the Sawyer Squeeze, Mini, and Micro. While I’ve tried out a whole bunch of water treatment methods, I eventually settled in on the Sawyer Squeeze during my wife and I’s 2015 PCT thru hike attempt.
