The album peaked at No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart and was certified Gold by the BPI. In the musical version, the song is reworked by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe into a number that alludes to the idea that chimney sweeps act as guardian angels in the night whenever called upon to "step in time".
