Description

Perforated completion is by far the most common completion method in use today. Perforating is the process of piercing the production casing at specific locations to allow the formation fluids to enter the wellbore and flow to the surface. Since a drilling rig is used to drill wells that can exceed 20,000 feet, it needs a powerful rotary head to turn the drill pipe to “make hole”. Water Injection– Several “injection” wells are drilled in the same reservoir and flooded with water to force the oil up the production string. Technology exists today that allows oil and water to be separated downhole and the water is re-injected into a nearby nonproductive formation and never reaches the surface. Oil 101 is a 2009 book by New York based American commodities trader Morgan Downey. [1] Downey has been cited in the press as an expert in oil markets, [2] [3] Oil 101 was called a "must read" by a Financial Times blogger. [4] and a leading oil blog reviewed the book as an addition to its select group of top oil books. [5]

I would like to thank you for the brilliant interactive Oil 101 materials. I did use it to prepare for the recruitment process with Royal Dutch Shell, and I managed to take a new role in the oil and gas industry:)Originally, it was thought that well completion meant nothing more than drilling into the pay-zone and letting the oil flow. Leaving the funny coincidences and global politics aside, this book is an absolute beast when it comes to explaining the ins and outs of the oil industry. It covers everything, from the chemistry of the oil to oil markets, going incrementally through fascinating topics like exploration, production, refining process, transportation and storage. It’s just so comprehensive! And it’s very technical: if you are not interested in this aspect, this is not the book for you. Also, prepare to be flooded with abbreviations (apparently the oil industry is filled with them)! You can make oil paint more fluid by mixing it with more oil, or by adding a solvent, however, this also weakens the paint. Oil paint is generally at its most stable form straight from the tube. If you seek a well-crafted technical guide to the production of oil and gas suited for the non- engineer this is a hot contender. The author used to be the Global Head of Commodities at Bloomberg after being a commodities trader at Standard Chartered, Bank of America and Citibank. There is no foreword to discuss the purpose of the book, but instead the reader gets to dive right into the first 1859 findings of oil in Oil Creek, Titusville, Pennsylvania. The sleeve however revels that the aim is to meet “the need for a clear, concise guide to oil”. Thank you for this information – so helpful! I also read your detailed post on cleaning paint brushes. I’m worried about paint, linseed oil, and the Bob Ross brush cleaner/conditioner going down the kitchen sink. That doesn’t feel like it is good for the environment, but I’m not sure. I’m pretty sure that putting solvent or turpentine down the sink would not be a good idea. Do you have information about how to be responsible and not cause harm when using solvents or the specialized brush cleaners? Thin washes with solvent – By mixing oil paint with solvent, you can produce a very thin wash of transparent color which dries fast. This is how I usually start my paintings. You can also paint on other surfaces, such as wooden boards, but you need to make sure that the surface you paint on has been primed with gesso.
