Adapted from Michael Bond’s beloved books, Paddington follows the comic misadventures of a polite young bear with an endearing talent for comic chaos. It’s a more involved and in depth story than you get in the Postman Pat tv episodes, and perhaps a little more mature so younger or more sensitive viewers may be scared by the Pat-Bots depending on the child. Mr R was 2 when he first saw this in the cinema (now 3) and he was fine. Mr T (4) was initially scared so he didn’t see this in the cinema but when watching at home he didn’t feel scared and he loved the movie. Mr Z is 6 years old so getting a little old for Postman Pat but because this movie is more mature and has a more in depth story line he really liked it, both when watching in the cinema and when re-watching with the DVD at home. He said it was excellent, and I do think it’s a great choice for the whole family. It is an enjoyable movie and the whole cast have done a great job. No doubt the desire not to bore the hell out of older kids, much less their parents, played a part; more likely, however, is that the filmmakers didn't want to have something too lame on their CV.

Lionsgate recently shot The Royals, a soapy Us drama about the British royal family starring Liz Hurley, in London. If it gets around the crowd that I'm there, I've had 6,000 people shouting 'Dan' at me. Maybe it will morph into 'Pat'?" he said in reference to his role as Greendale's premiere postman. Co-producer Ambient Entertainment has partnered with Warner Brothers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. A famously cherished character across the Atlantic, it is possible Postman Pat will not connect with American audiences or generate the same love the British have for him. Not because he is not a great guy, but because the movie in his honor seems completely incoherent. Based upon the stop-motion animation series that ran on the BBC from the early 1980’s, this reinvention discards the beauty of the medium that made the character iconic and turns it into a bland computerized puppet. As if this wasn’t enough, the guys at DreamWorks Classics came to the conclusion that including a singing contest (on the vein of Britain’s Got Talent), robots, and warfare machinery would be amazing components to include. Really? Some things are better left untouched; you guys could have called Aardman Animations. They would’ve gotten it right. In 2013, the story in Postman Pat Live from Premier Stage Productions was almost the same as this film.

To play one of the nation’s best loved characters from a children’s TV show is no easy task – and Stephen Mangan discusses the pressure that comes with taking on the role of Postman Pat, ahead of the character’s debut on the big screen. After all, the big screen debut of Postman Pat suffered from an early promo that suggested the film was not one to look forward to. As it turns out, there are merits to the Postman Pat movie, which at times feels as much like the beneficiary of a Doctor Who script conference as a stint watching children's telly. Mike Disa's entertaining Postman Pat: The Movie is based on a long-running stop-motion BBC children's series which is hugely popular in the U.K. but has never quite made a dent in America, possibly because it's deeply British. Plus, with the film seeing Pat enter a Britain's Got Talent-esque competition, we got Stephen to relive his worst ever audition (it involved being half-naked up a ladder) and chatted to Ronan about a possible move from X Factor Australia to the homegrown version... Harry Hill leads Charlie Higson-penned children's book adaptation, The Incredible Adventures Of Professor Branestawm...Postman Pat enters a TV talent show and discovers that he has a hidden music talent. But, when Pat is seduced by the lure of fame and money he is replaced on his daily rounds by a robot called the PatBot 3000. The Chief Executive Officer of the SDS, Mr Brown ( Jim Broadbent), and Edwin Carbunkle had been watching the contest on television. They say that they would like to use Pat in a publicity campaign including his own television series. Carbunkle also confirms that because Pat will be away participating in the contest, a robot replica of him called the "Patbot 3000" will be taking over his postal duties, along with another robot replica of Jess called the "Jessbot" as well. Having been denied his yearly bonus by a sinister corporate new broom called Carbuncle (Peter Woodward), Pat, voiced efficiently enough by a reined-in Stephen Mangan, enters the show to win a holiday to Italy, to make good on a promise to his wife. It is unknown why Nikhil, Bonnie and Pumpkin were absent from the film, despite being major characters since their debuts.
