It looks like Just My Luck is already available, and has been for awhile, so I'm guessing my ARC is for the re-release, which is scheduled April 6, 2021.

From greed, to overzealous spending, to truly despicable characters, “Just My Luck” gave me heart palpitations.

The rest of the book is concerned with the unravelling of a web of greed, lies, crime and deceit which lays bare the individual characters in the group. The ending came out of left field and though I understood it, what preceded it then didn’t make much sense.

This part is fast moving, a real page turner, with many twists and turns before the final unexpected revelation. I love that the tension arises over the winning of the money and that slow divergences come to light. I'd like to ask Adele whether she has ever played the lottery and whether she would consider forming a syndicate with her friends. And when the family decides to have an extravagantly lavish party at their new mansion, something incomprehensible occurs during the celebration which tears the families apart. This is such a great story with its twists along the way, as we come to the explosive ending I couldn’t read this fast enough to see how it was all going to end.I didn't care for Jake at all, I thought he was immature and I also thought that Lexi did not stand up for herself or to him strongly enough. Jumping among many characters and time frames results in a narrative that sometimes feels choppy and disjointed, and between physical beatings, hostage situations, murder, and adultery, there's so much action that it can feel unrealistic. As the Greenwoods battle over how to spend the money, the Pearsons and Heathcotes learn of the win and come out swinging. From start to finish it had me wracking my brain, trying to come with words to describe these characters. A short and unpleasant battle between the families ensues but the other two families appear to withdraw their claim quite early in the story.

Three out of four Saturday nights were spent sharing a meal and discussing what happened in their lives since they last met. If you ever thought you wanted to win the lottery, this is a great book to let you know why you don't. I did like the ending up until the very last section, which I thought was quite odd in light of the rest of the book. Adele has lived in Botswana, Italy and London, and is now settled in Guildford, Surrey, with her husband, son and cat.The relationship between Lexi and Jake will begin to change, as they both will change during this period. The book's premise was intriguing: a family who always played the same six lottery numbers with two other couples wins the lottery -- .
