Three unidentified wooden numeral and letter sets (named Set W3, Set W4 and Set W5 here) have been obtained between 2020 and 2021. All colors are fixed. I own 240 numerals of this set (241 including the blue 2), the most out of any magnetic numeral set. Cuisenaire rods are brand new to me. I have seen them stashed away in the math supply room, and I have only recently used them in my classroom. They encourage plenty of creative thought and teach a ton of concepts, such as fractions, geometry, and counting. Each size is a different color, which is pretty cool. Cuisenaire rods come in plastic, like these, or wood, like these. I like to encourage students to explore with a bin of rods and see what they come up with. As a teacher with many years of experience incorporating math manipulatives into my lessons, I appreciate how useful they are in helping me teach different math concepts. Many items can be used in multiple ways. I enjoy watching children have “lightbulb” moments when they finally understand an idea thanks to the tools they are using. I am ecstatic when children are exploring with a tub of manipulatives, and they discover something new, a pattern, or a way of use. Like many other sets, these numbers, letters and symbols come in six classic colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.Since 2018, I have been attempting to find a new set of megcos magnetic numbers, or other branded magnetic numbers using the same mold. Because of that, the Early Learning Center numerals were obtained in 2021. Classes three and four are the "typical" sets of numbers you can find, which they are just "there" and don't stand out in any shape or form. The only difference between the classes are that class four sets tend to have better quality and aesthetics. That's when I introduced the Learning Resources Jumbo Magnetic Numbers to Emma. The moment she laid eyes on the colorful, oversized numbers, her face lit up with curiosity and excitement. The vibrant hues and large size captured her attention and made her eager to explore further.

Set W3 is based on Helvetica (except 6 and 9) and 50 numbers have been obtained. Several shapes and symbols were also included in the set. I use math manipulatives for almost every math lesson I teach. When planning my lessons, I think of ways that the concepts can be explained using visuals, as well as orally or on a chart. I prep tools ahead of time so they are ready for our lessons. I vary the tools for students to get practice using different types. During our lessons, math manipulatives are used usually during or after the initial lesson is taught. I will explain a concept, give examples on a chart, practice orally, and demonstrate with math manipulatives. Students use those manipulatives to practice the concept or solve a problem. Examples of How to Use Math Tools Teachers Pay Teachers is another wonderful option for finding math resources, games, centers, and printable manipulatives for your classroom. Try the Mindful Math Comprehensive ProgramI have tubs, baskets, and containers full of math manipulatives in our math area, as well as on our math supply shelf. It’s fun to use a different bin or tub to hold each manipulative. I suggest labeling each bin or container with a name and picture on it. I recommend taking photos of your students using each manipulative correctly and attaching that to the bin as an example to students. During “free time” or math centers, I will put out a basket containing around 20, 50, or 100 small items depending and ask students to complete a task. The task could be “make groups and count to find out how many objects you have” or something that encourages thinking and problem-solving. Class ones are reserved for literally the worst sets. Sets that question you why you've spend money on them. Bad aesthetics/quality and occasionally having one or two missing or broken pieces. Note that Numerals intended as Transdecimal digits that can be turned over to resemble decimal digits fall in the transdecimal category. Foam magnetic numbers obtained in 2021. 63 numbers total, six sets plus three extra zeroes. Comes in five classic colors (red, orange, yellow, green and dark blue). This set was assigned Class 2 in early 2021, due to it being a suspected spin-off and its poor quality.Number lines are important for many number concepts, such as counting, sequencing, and number recognition. Students can be taught how to solve addition and subtraction problems by jumping up or down the number line. Provide students with a number line, such as these personal number lines. Use a large number line to display on a bulletin board for class demonstrations. A human number line can be created on the floor with tape and used for practice and games, like the Human Number Line Game explained here.

Jumbo Magnetic Numbers Set 36 - KCS

The Megcos magnetic numerals set was obtained when I was a toddler, however it was sadly lost and only a blue digit "2" was found after several years. It is believed that the set of numerals have been discontinued in the early 2010s and a new set will be impossibly hard to find both online and in physical stores. It is believed that these numerals also come in other colors, such as blue, purple and hot pink. However, they are only available in the pink edition of the "ELC Magnetic Playcentre" and it was deemed to be too expensive for 10 numbers (and 80 letters) and therefore none have been owned so far.The Learning Resources Jumbo Magnetic Numbers have transformed my classroom into a dynamic and interactive learning environment. They have reignited my students' enthusiasm for numbers and counting, providing a solid foundation for their math skills. Witnessing Emma's journey and the overall positive impact on my students' learning experiences has been incredibly rewarding.
