Description

The following scents have been used in its realization: the delicately refreshing and sour aroma of bergamot, the fresh and decisive basil, the acidic and fresh personality of lemon and green orange.

a tart green lemony citrus fragrance for the most part, slight floral and spice coming in behind it. Embrace the essence of Armani and elevate your fragrance game with this remarkable scent that embodies the spirit of success and accomplishment. This one starts of VERY citrusy, so much it could almost hurt your nose, while still pleasant if you don't over-inhale. The citrus in the top notes is quite well done with prominent lemon and basil, and a mild spiciness. Lemon, vetiver, lavender , lilly, musk and a touch of oakmoss: everything you need to smell like an elegant gentleman, this is the Mastroianni of the fragrances.

Being honest in my reviews, I tend to lean toward the emotional aspect of the fragrance without getting too technical about the breakdown and accords. I was very surprised at how unexpectedly similar the two are at initial spray and during development, especially the aldehyde note. The 'top' notes do dominate, and perhaps that's its downfall, but to be fair that's the case with most citrus perfumes. Unfortunately since its reformulation (like many other perfumes) it is not the same at all, I have turned the page.

I smellt it before, but it was warmer weather and I could smell patchouli after the citrus green opening. Just as the Ralph Lauren scent completely synced with that brand's image, Armani Eau Pour Homme perfectly represents the pared down luxury that Armani is known for.I'm currently on my 2nd bottle which is the new formulation and it's very similar to the older formulation which was my 1st bottle. Created by the renowned Italian fashion house, Armani, this fragrance showcases the brand's innate ability to craft iconic scents for the modern man. the original smelled really good and the reformulation just doesn't ;) I'm half-joking, but in the case of APH it's true. The reformulation isn’t as good as the one with the black base but it’s still a wonderful clean, crisp, citrusy masterpiece….

I realized it totally smells like a more complex version of Florida Water cologne from the 1800s with the bright natural citrus with the clove + cinnamon etc. Then it gradually transforms into a heavy patchouli and sandlewood base which lasts 4 to 5 hours in a fall or winter season. Could be true, however, the fact it is more subtle makes it for me a perfect cologne, when I dress up or when I am around a lot of people up close - office, funeral, any gatherings when I want to smell nice without wanting to be a center of attention. They're present, but in the background, while the main ingredients are citruses(mainly bergamot) and spices (I feel the mix of cloves and nutmeg). With its scent features, it is a suitable choice for any time of day and can be worn throughout the year, especially during social activities.

However, Armani's offering seems to have a touch more testosterone added to the formula perhaps reflecting the powerhouse olfactory zeitgeist of the 80's as perhaps best represented by YSL's Kouros (1981) or Chanel's Antaeus (1981). It is a fragrance that brings perfuming over three generations and still remaining among one of the most iconic perfume of the Italian firm, because it represents everything that the brand conveys in his textile creations: sobriety, elegance and virility. This seems to project better on me than the original did even though I cannot imagine that this is a better projecting fragrance than the 1984 original formulation for most people, may just be my skin chemistry. The bad smell associated with this cologne is that the citruses can sometimes smell sour and too sharp. It's odd to say you wont find this nowadays because it is somewhat simple yet rare to experience and possibly impossible to compose nowadays with IFRA. A more traditional blend of cedarwood, vetiver, oakmoss, sandalwood and patchouli was suggested for the base note. You won’t really notice any difference between a product purchased from Perfume’s Club and a product purchased from a seller in our new Marketplace. But on the other hand, being an aromatic chypre which keeps the citrus going for an incredibly long time, EpH is a technical marvel.

Some may say this beautiful fougere is dated and thats fine, but for me I never will be without this now classic fragrance again. Top notes are Bergamot, Mandarin Orange and Basil; middle notes are Cloves, Nutmeg and Lily; base notes are Oakmoss, Sandalwood and Patchouli. The other analogy I draw is to Tuscany; I think Armani is how I expected Tuscany to smell before it turned out more musty and less citrusy than I wanted. The lemon is very present in the beginning but it’s much mellower and less of a *pop* of the Roudnitska masterpiece.
