However, if I wasn’t using electronic shifting, I don’t think the smalls would have enough space for a full shift lever movement.

I definitely consider the Bar Mitts Mountain Extreme to be the biggest contribution to curing the common problem of cold hands. I have a set of Moose Mitts I got this year and if not for them I don't think I would have ridden much/at all, my hands are just too messed up from too many bad rides with wrong gloves. Once installed they stand up nicely (semi-rigid), and are stiff enough that the large 4x6 inch opening is easy to egress and ingress. The large size has worked very well for me on two additional 200 km brevets and several centuries with temperatures as low as 24F (-4. But when I do find my new lower limit for the temperature I’ll bike in, the warmth of my hands won’t be the limiting factor. There is nothing worse than having your hands get cold, as they start to ache with early stages of frostnip, along with loss of finer motor skills. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. I can wear my monstrous ski gloves to keep my hands warm, but I loose a great deal of dexterity, and they still get cold on a long ride.

This past week I used the Extreme Bar Mitts in temperatures ranging from a -5F windchill up to a balmy 20F. All that's really needed is something thick enough for the mitts to keep their shape and block the wind. Perhaps the best endorsement of the Bar Mitts is that they are still mounted on my handlebars and will likely stay there for the rest of the winter. My husband is in his late 40s, bikes year round, and this is the first year he complained of his fingers being cold while fat biking in snow at 10 degreesish. I got some relatively thin (not bulky) Pearl Izumi lobster gloves as pictured above (but can only fit the thinnest of silk glove liners inside them cuz despite getting the largest size they make, they are not very loose) which I can get into the bar mitts but it gets pretty crowded in there.BAR MITTS: Waterproof Neoprene The BEST System we have found to keep your hands comfortable in the cold or wet weather. The bottom of the mitts tapers to a fairly small opening, which held tight on my thin Fizik Microtex bar tape. I usually put them on at the point in January when it looks like temps are going to head below 0 F for a while. With Bar Mitts, you can easily access and remove your hands while keeping the mitts securely in place, thanks to the inside Velcro clinch that attaches around the handlebars. You can vary the thickness of the glove you wear, so it gives a slew of temperature gradient ranges.

When it comes to keeping your hands warm in winter, Bar Mitts perform better than anything else you’ve ever tried; gloves, warmers or liners.I've never used them but to me they look like dangerous in case of a fall or an accident, because they could keep your hands "locked" or constrained to the handlebar, preventing you from proper movement while falling. the top cuff of the mitt continues to act as a wind break even when you slide your hand up on the bar. This recipes contains the primary ingredients I like to have for breakfast anyway– oatmeal and bananas– but in a more portable format. I had originally thought I would only put on the Extreme model for the coldest days, but I now suspect the comfort range extends to warmer temperatures than I expected. Extreme Bar Mitts have a removable cuff on the end of the sleeves with a slit opening that your arms go through.
