Description

The show hums with an easy sense of playfulness, with the young audience happily shouting out comments and warnings as the adventure unfolds. Mae Munuo and Sam Swann scamper tirelessly about the stage as young Betty and Bobby Bold, munching on pens, papers and chairs, rubbing their bottoms on props and, of course, rolling about on the floor with laughter. Ai koska me ollaan paljon karvaisempia?" kysyi Vilma ja silitteli omaa tuuheakarvaista käsivarttaan.

This is an upbeat, heartwarming book that is bound to be popular with children and adults alike. Furthermore, the book is an absolute must if you are a David Roberts fan with its very generous proportion of illustrations to delight young readers. I’m actually hoping they will produce a picture book spin off about Miranda the marmoset who is the cutest creature I have ever seen! The Bolds are just like you and me. They live in an ordinary house on an ordinary street, and they love to laugh. But there's one slight difference. They are actually hyenas! The Bolds are just like you and me. They live in an ordinary house on an ordinary street, and they love to laugh. But there’s one slight difference. They are actually hyenas! When they arrived in England they had to learn where and how to get food, cross the street and hide their tails. When they ran out of money they got jobs. They had babies and were living the life. When their grumpy, nasty old neighbour saw them, he got suspicious. Were they going to be found out? Would they end up in a zoo?Combining live music and songs by Julian Clary and Simon Wallace, The Bolds will have you laughing like a bunch of, well, hyenas, in a show which revels in the joy of being anything but ordinary. Nyt on katsokaas sillä tavalla", herra Ponnekas jatkoi, "että meidän perhe eroaa kaikista muista perheistä, kuten olette ehkä huomanneet."

All in all, this is sure to be a really fun show for all ages - including the grown ups. If the audience's reaction from last night is anything to go by, people are going to absolutely love it. Then, on a trip to a safari park to slake a nostalgia for Africa, they encounter an elderly hyena whom the veterinarians think is too old and unwell and propose to “put to sleep” as a kindness. The Bolds hatch a plan to save him. What do you know, there’s a nosy neighbour, Mr McNumpty (the delightful Sam Pay) who is keeping an eagle eye on the Bolds and very suspicious he is, too, what with these strange children who rub their bottoms around the Bold property to mark their territory and laugh all day like hyenas. I've had lots of requests for this since mentioning it to library customers, and my book group (ages 7-10) think it's a winner. I'm included to agree.

About Julian Clary

And I am so happy I did, because this book was amazing, it was funny, it was a bit sad at times, at times I was frustrated with a certain character, but generally I just laughed my butt off at the silliness, the bad jokes, the whole family (especially the dad). Heeeeeee hee hee! That's a hyena laughing, in case you were wondering. I loved this. Clary is a natural children's story-writer, and doesn't try too hard to make himself funny, instead putting the humour directly into the situation and characters, making it an entertaining read.

I did love that little girl who was friends with the kids. I was worried about how the story would go when certain things came to light, but she really surprised me. I hope she will get a bigger role in the next one. Edelleen 2. luokan vinkkikirjoja luen. Tämä oli aika pitkähkö, eli vaatii jo hyvän lukutaidon ja keskittymiskykyä. Mutta sen verran höpsö ja kuvilla höystetty, että sopii kyllä 2.-3. luokkalaisille hyvin. I won't tell you their secret, though I guess, you could guess from just looking at the cover. What other creature laughs so much, what other creature is so hairy with spots, what else has such big teeth and snouts? There is also the typical trope of old, grumpy, bleh, dude next door. I really don't like that trope, it was the one thing that I didn't like throughout the book. Only at the ending (with the revelation) did I start to like him a bit. I still didn't like that he acted the way he did. I found it rude, bad, and I just wanted him out of the story. We know the holiday season is upon us when fairy tales and children’s storybooks run amok as stage adaptations to compete with the manufactured jolly of Yuletide cheer. The Bolds – Photo by Ellie Kurttz. Carry on camping with dream team Julian Clary and David Roberts! It's the summer holidays; and the hairiest family in Teddington decide to take a well-earned holiday by the seaside. With their extended hyena family in tow; they head on down to Cornwall for a spot of camping.
