(to the connected headphones on the front of the controller). The filter controls are large and easy to use, with a High/low pass filter running as standard until you choose your effect. Although there are better Serato DJ systems out there, you’d struggle to get something like this for the same price and with the same intuitive professional design. The pads come into their own too, with Hot Cue, Loop, Slicer, Sampler, Tone Play and Pad-controlled FX among the options. While I’m no expert on this software, it did seem pretty capable. Here, the Filter knob controls four effects plus filter – echo, flanger, gate and reverb – which sound pretty good and apparently you can change them in the software, too.

Built-in hardware input mixer: you can even add a filter effect onto an external audio source (smartphone, media player…), and connect your microphone. These knobs offer Hardware operations and should not be assigned to any VDJ script action. They apply to the Microphone/AUX inputs of the device, before sent to Master or USB Audio Interface.Beginner controllers usually feature no inputs or at best a microphone that’s not routed through the mixer at all. The Inpulse 500, however, features a balanced TRS microphone input, a 3.5mm TRRS auxiliary input and finally a stereo line-level input. The microphone includes a dedicated trim control with LED ring lighting for level monitoring and dedicated two-band EQ.

Pros:If you did not hear the message in headphones, as you have another computer, can you test on this other computer with the same software and DJC I 500 if you can hear the sound in the headphones output of this other computer? We were extremely impressed by the versatility here, especially when you consider how limited many beginner controllers are when it comes to offering input access. Once you hit the perfect speed, the LED light simply turns green to let you know you can stop adjusting.
