Sammo Hung has always been a terrific director, proving here again why he’s one of the greatest living action directors in history. He was assisted by Corey Yuen ( The Transporter), who is no slouch himself. He and actor Yuen Wah, who portrayed the villain, also attended school and trained with Chan, Hung, and Biao. 88 Films The action itself is nothing short of phenomenal. The final fight in the chemical factory may be one of the most beautifully choreographed action scenes in the genre’s history. The stunt performers and stars risk their lives to bring it all to life. It’s not even worth describing; it has to be seen to be believed. The camera angles are always placed in a way so that you can see who is doing what, which makes it even more exciting. Mr. Odessa on Don’t miss Goodie Emporium’s New Release update! RUN AND KILL is being released by Team Error 4444. It’s available for pre ord… Out-takes & Behind the Scenes (12:57) – a series of outtakes and b-roll footage from the production.Of course, the prize is all of the stunt footage and mishaps that typically close out Chan’s film.Interestingly, there is quite a bit of fan interaction in the footage. The footage runs over the score from James Wong Jim. The Breaker - this archival program takes a closer look at the acting and fighting careers of Billy Chow, who has a memorable role in Dragons Forever. In English and Cantonese, with English subtitles where necessary. (35 min Then come the fights, among the most splendidly choreographed outbursts in Chan’s career, and that’s not said lightly. Short of Police Story’s epic mall battle, the amount of shattered glass during Dragons Forever’s finale is unbelievable. Stunt work looks absolutely painful, and the speed doesn’t even seem possible for human beings. UHD Blu-ray presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) of the International Version [94 mins] [Commissioned by Golden Harvest for international audiences outside Asia] with the English Dub and optional English SDHFor its presentation in Ultra HD Dragons Forever was derived from a brand new 4K scan of the original camera negative. Plus, there’s the color, heightened by a flush Dolby Vision pass. Warmed flesh tones look elevated but not offensively so. Generous saturation brings primaries healthy vividness to the film, to the peak of each hue but without turning into bleeding. Films is releasing the film on both 4K and traditional Blu-ray. This is a legendary set for a legendary film, and I couldn’t be happier that this set now exists for fans all over the world to experience one of the greatest action films ever committed to celluloid. This appears to be Director and Co-Star Hung’s touch as there is the sort of feel that Millionaires Expresshas to its comedic stylings than say Chan’s more physical comedy ala Meals on Wheels. The result is a film that works as well as a romance as it does as an action vehicle without the sort of danger and peril faced by Chan in his normal comedic entire.

Japanese End Credits - original Japanese end credits for Dragons Forever. In Cantonese, not subtitled. (2 min) Andrew Hernandez on Believer 2 (2023) Review Wow. I know you’ve hated other movies before, but this is flat out contempt!… The addition of high dynamic range added a pleasing visual element that enriched both natural and artificial light. I also felt that the sun splashed sequences benefited from the application of HDR which emboldened their depth. In addition to the increase in resolution, this made the differences between the 1080p video and this rendering standout.

The Legacy of Dragons Forever (2:33) – a featurette with today’s actors & martial artists including Troy Sandford, Chris Jones, Ross Boyask, Maria Tran, Mike Leeder, Jean-Paul Ly, Mark Strange, Mike Moeller, George Clarke, Jude Poyer & Steve Lawson discussing what makes the film so special beyond the elite action and comedy. This may be a bold statement, but the 4K release from 88 Films and Fortune Star is the release I’ve been waiting for most of my life to see. I was around eighteen when I first saw it on a 10th-generation bootleg VHS. The subpar quality always left me wanting more. The Laserdisc I bought in the early 2000s was undoubtedly a step up but nowhere near what I would long for. This release is everything I have wanted and more. Selected items are only available for delivery via the Royal Mail 48® service and other items are available for delivery using this service for a charge. English Version - 4K restoration of the English version of Dragons Forever, which was commissioned by Golden Harvest for international audiences outside Asia with the classic English dub. (94 min).

The Legacy of Dragons Forever - stuntmen Troy Sandford and Chris Jones, and filmmaker Boyask, amongst other, discuss the unique chemistry between the stars of Dragons Forever. In English. (3 min) I was in awe when they showed clips from his Hong Kong films where Chan was not just partaking in these breathtaking fight sequences but putting his life on the line while performing his own insane stunts. I had never seen anything like it, and those films remain exemplary examples of why he’s one-of-a-kind. They were, at the time, almost impossible to find, so I found myself making friends on Prodigy bulletin boards and deep diving into VHS tape trading, where I would eventually get to see these films, all brilliant. Over the years, I’ve been able to get them as Chan became more widely known in the U.S. on proper releases. As an enthusiast I appreciate a well-crafted sound mix that draws me into the onscreen elements, regardless of where the sounds are emanating from. This Atmos mix is fair, occasionally broadening the soundstage and incorporating occasional point by point cues. It had potential but, I couldn’t help but feel let down by it. Music Video (Cantonese): A three-minute video is provided here in Cantonese. This has better audio quality than the English version. Interviews begin with stuntman Chin Kar-Lok, the move on to writer Szeti Cheuk-Hon, actor Benny Urquidez, professor David Desser, Mike Leeder, and stuntmen Joe Eigo, Andy Chang, Jude Poyer, and Billy Chow (all individually). A brief two-minute retrospective is followed by set footage/outtakes (12-minutes worth). Music videos and trailers cap this sensational, hours long extras set.

The 4K disc houses extras in bunches. Frank Djeng and FJ DeSanto handle commentary on the Japanese cut. Mike Leeder and Arne Venema do the same, but for the Hong Kong version. Note the international cut is here too, but with no commentary. Thai Breaker – An Interview with Billy Chow: A 34-minute interview with Billy Chow which starts off set at a match where various other people discuss his work before getting to Chow himself who goes in depth about his career. I am leaning towards the Japanese version as it seems to have more scenes that what feature in the HK and the English version (as the English version has extra scenes also but it cuts some stuff from the HK version, whereas the JPN version has them all I think). However the HK version would be the theatrical "original" experience.
