There are more touching and emotional scenes throughout the series which Taylor is just so great with, so it’s awesome to see him continue to execute that.

Following the apocalyptic events which unfolded due to the unleashing of the Anti-Living Virus on Earth, what remains of the Justice League and of humanity have settled well on Earth 2. Just before Lois is about to look at her phone, Superman destroys the devices with his heat vision, instructing everyone not to look at any screens.

Deathstroke encounters infected neo-nazis, but becomes one of the infected after attempting to use his phone. The duo agree and find they are not the only ones helping Savage as Deadshot, Bane, Lady Shiva, Cheetah, Captain Cold, Solomon Grundy, and Creeper are also there. On the bus, Mirror Master attacks Slade before taking two of the children through the windows, but Cheetah kills Mirror Master before he can take Matilda. Another spectacularly well written installment in the DCeased storyline, and this time it seems to be the end? Mister Miracle convinces Green Canary to let Big Barda be the first test subject and she is subsequently healed when Jon injects the cure into her.

You kind of miss the character work of DCeased, though, where Tom Taylor really made you care about a superhero right before killing them. Five years have passed since Earth was evacuated following the deadly outbreak of the Anti-Life Equation. The Yellow Lanterns attempt to fire on Korugar but are intercepted by Soranik Natu and her husband Kyle Rayner. Jimmy Olsen saves some of his co-workers in the initial outbreak of the virus and documents the heroes' actions throughout the DCeased event.Unfortunately for them, the number of infected was dropping as in Paris, Trigon emerged and began smiting the anti-living in the streets. Superman, still stunned by Mxyzptlk's sudden infection and destruction of the entire planet tries to calm a hopeless Kyle Rayner as the latter tells him they've lost. The first issue recaps the events of DCeased, where humanity has not only lost those protecting their world, but their world itself. Doctor Fate explains they are truly safe as the Anti-Living cannot breach the walls of the garden as it has been enchanted with magic.
