Description

The head on this stove is large as far as canister stoves go and and sits very, very close to the pot allowing just enough airflow to provide oxygen to the head but not so much to impact the flame. In fact the burner head is slightly recessed providing additional wind protection. Most canister stoves need a windshield to operate well in windy conditions and while this will benefit any canister stove, it is not essential in most conditions for the Windmaster. In fact we timed this stove to boil 500 ml of water and even with a light breeze it timed in at 2 minutes and 42 seconds which did work out slower than the integrated stoves but not by a great deal. If you are using this, or for that matter, any other stove during windy weather this boil time is going to be slower. The Soto Windmaster Stove is designed to last. It is made to be durable and reliable and should provide years of service with proper care and maintenance. Hi crollsurf, just wondering what your walking stove is to cook real food rather than boil water? Anthill Nothofagus cunninghamii As the name confidently implies, the WindMaster is designed to offer fast yet efficient boiling despite strong winds. The burner of the stove is designed to sit as close to the pot as possible without cremating your food, therefore reducing the amount of wind that can pass between the flame and the pot. Not only does this prevent the wind doubling your boiling times, but means the stove uses less gas overall. To put this technology into perspective, the WindMaster is able to boil 2 cups of water in just 2 minutes and 30 seconds. SOTO's stoves are compatible with all major gas canisters on the market today. All major gas brand companies’ canisters are equipped with a Lindal valve. The connection for SOTO's stoves has been engineered to be compatible with the Lindal valve system thereby making it compatible with all major fuel canisters. If you have used the Soto Windmaster Stove or if you have questions, we’d like to hear from you. Post your comment or question below Investment Highest rated stove on the PCT. The Pacific Crest Trail Gear Guide: Class of 2019 Survey ranks SOTO’s WindMaster stove at the top of their list based on 846 completed surveys. Read more about it at Halfway Anywhere..Like all canister-top designs, with the SOTO Windmaster your cooking pot does sit a fair way off the ground when it’s all set up. This does affect stability slightly, though a gas canister stand helps here. Still, it doesn’t feel worryingly precarious, thanks in large part to the toothed arms of the pot support. So what’s the solution? The Windmaster burner is concave with a protective rim that shields the flame from the wind. It also has a low pot support, which means the burner is closer to the bottom of your pot. This means that the burner doesn’t just stay lit in windy conditions, but the heat is still being directed towards you pot (rather than whichever way the wind is blowing). Sleeping Accessories All those things you all ways need when camping in the wild spares and extra things to make your stay a little easierThe Windmaster is designed to be incredibly lightweight, at just 3.2 ounces, making it the lightest stove of its kind on the market. Boils 1 liter of water in just over 4 min.; one 8 oz. fuel canister provides about 1.5 hrs. of burn time An integrated cook system that simplifies set-up and makes for a more user-friendly stove to use on the trail. Then there is fuel consumption. This is supposed to be a fairly efficient stove but it went through a new 100g cannister on a recent 3 day hike boiling water for 1 coffee & 1 oatmeal each morning and a dehydrated meal at night. The last morning it died before I could boil water for the oatmeal (thank God I managed to get my coffee). Sleeping Bags When it comes to wild camping, a good sleeping bag is essential. Portability: If you plan to travel with your Soto stove, make sure you select one that is lightweight and compact. Look for models with foldable legs and other features that make them easy to transport. Windmaster is the superior one when it comes to boiling times. When tested with 700 ml of water, Soto Amicus boiled this amount in 3 min 16 sec, on the other hand, Soto Windmaster boiled the same amount in 2 min 49 seconds, Sound Camping Tableware Much like at home, it’s important to have cooking, eating and drinking equipment when camping and hiking. Read More A very good option for those who like to cook and like a bit of versatility in their stove set ups Buy OneThis is an excellent stove. Great output and works very well in windy conditions just as advertised. I actually had an issue with the regulator on mine which I understand is pretty unusual. SOTO customer service was incredible and they sent me a replacement right away no questions asked. Great product and great company. Highly recommend. The Amicus, on the other hand, is a low-cost stove that provides high-end performance. Its output is 2800 kcal/h 3260w 11000 BTU, and it can burn for approximately 1.5 hours with an 8 oz (250g) canister. Its superior performance under windy conditions, thanks to the raised ledge and concave burner surface, is particularly noteworthy. Why and When You Should Use Soto Windmaster Stoves? Windmaster‘s pot support is not attached to the stove, which actually is even better since it offers you the versatility of choosing the suitable pot support depending on your trip. The 4 pot supports are engineered for easy setup, providing a stable surface for your pot. Compatible with standard isobutane canisters such as Primus, Snow Peak, MSR, and Jetboil, it comes with a Triple O-ring Seal and Metal Seal. I haven’t done this, but if you do want something lighter you can swap it out for the more compact TriFlex (sold separately) for a total weight of 67g and a max pot size of 800ml.
