Description

In chapter 37, Vanilla threatens the Princess with a massive, scary roller coaster... but the Princess likes roller coasters, so treating it as a threat instead of a reward is hopeless. As the "torturer", Vanilla is obligated to ride it as well and ends up blabbing one of her secrets because she's terrified of the ride.

Despite being the main character of the story, and hearing numerous tales of adventure and secrets from her, we have yet to learn the name of the Princess, with everybody simply calling her "princess".Golem: Elisabeth crafted his body out of clay and her own blood, summoning his soul into it after he died. Inconsistent Spelling: In the English translation, the first couple of books spell the Pope's name "Godd Deus". In volume 3 it changes to "Godot Deus" without explanation. Then it becomes "Godd Deos" in volume 5. Make up your minds! Chapter 14 features Tortura showing off her "torture" skills with a can of Sappari beer (a pun on the real-life Japanese beer brand Sapporo). Despite playing it up with their Card-Carrying Villain attitude and calling their interactions with the Princess "torture", none of the demons in this story can actually be called "evil". For all they "torture" the Princess for various secrets, their methods are often ultimately harmless and they frequently allow the Princess to indulge herself beyond what's needed as her reward for talking.

Even the Girls Want Her: Youki's profile in Volume 1 notes that she got even more chocolate than the most popular boys on Valentine's Day.

Reviews

Chapter 177 has Tortura describe the merits of hayashi rice. As she does, the image behind her is a Marine Admiral with a plate of hayashi rice for a head. Title Drop: Whenever Tortura and the other Harm-Marshals start their "torture" sessions with the Princess, which while done almost every chapter, is occasionally left out when "torture" isn't involved, the current "torturer" tells her "'tis time for torture, Princess". Fantastic Fruits and Vegetables: Demon world watermelons have blue insides and are juicier than regular watermelons. Eating a seed causes a sprout to grow from your navel, where for regular watermelons that's just a tall tale. Torture Princess: Fremd Torturchen ( Japanese: 異世界拷問姫, Hepburn: Isekai Goumon Hime) is a Japanese light novel series created by Keishi Ayasato and illustrated by Saki Ukai. Media Factory published the series in Japan from April 2016 to February 2020 under their MF Bunko J label. The story focuses on Kaito, a young man who after being strangled to death by his father is summoned to another world by the Torture Princess, Elisabeth Le Fanu. Working as Elisabeth's butler, Kaito aids Elisabeth in her assignment to destroy fourteen demons that torment the world. Boxed Crook: She faced being burned at the stake for her crimes against her own people, but the Church put a stay on her execution and demanded she hunt down and slay the fourteen ranked demons and their contractors. Her execution gets stayed again at the end of volume 3 courtesy of Kaito's Zero-Approval Gambit, and then finally cancelled altogether by La Christoph at the conclusion of volume 6: she's retasked with hunting down demon-worshippers, who begin to run rampant after the protagonists stop the apocalypse.

The chief inquisitor of the Hell-Horde, she is the one primarily in charge of "torturing" the Princess, with her "tortures" mainly focusing on food. Projects a cold demeanor, but is a rather nice person under it. Beach Episode: Chapter 29's "torture" involves beach sword fighting, so we get to see the Princess and her captors playing around in swimsuits. Abusive Parents: Kaito's father was a small-time gangster and alcoholic who not only liked to beat his son, but would hire him out to be beaten by others. Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: For all her moronic moments we're shown, the Princess is a genuinely badass swordswoman. This is shown in the "Beach Swordfight" chapter, where she effortlessly defeats her opponents. Yeah, even the demons themselves forgot that she's this strong. Of course, she ends up having so much fun she completely forgot to escape. Chapter 86 also shows that she's practically unmatched in unarmed combat, utterly crushing the martial arts competition with a few dodges and well-placed blows supplemented by incredible speed and reflexes. She's still a moron, though, as she cheated her math tests in the past, resulting in her flunking the second math-based round.

The Hell-Lord

Chapter 171 has the Hell-Lord getting tempted by the thought of Mark-D's while on his way to give the acceptance speech for the Hellhorde Distinguished Service. Many chapters make a big point of describing the Princess's past exploits or her stern training and upbringing. However, it's often exactly because of that strict upbringing that she's tempted by the "tortures" inflicted on her, as they frequently involve offering her things she never got to try because of it, such as video games, various foods, or even just playing on the playground with Mao-Mao.

Talking Weapon: Excalibur, Ex for short, is the Princess' trusted companion who's aided her in many a perilous endeavor. He currently acts as the Only Sane Man when it comes to all this "torture" business, alongside him gradually losing faith in his former image of the Princess as an unflappable warrior. Mundane Luxury: While the "tortures" the Hell-Horde offer the Princess vary all along the line, Giant's "tortures" are of this sort. They include time in a hot spring, talking a walk at night, and literally lying under a tree and doing nothing. Simultaneous Arcs: Chapter 75 has the Hell-Lord off with a mouth ulcer, and chapter 76 has the Princess and her "torturers" go bowling in the meantime.Made of Iron: Much like Elisabeth, Kaito is so used to pain from his previous life that, even discounting the durability of his golem body, he can take a tremendous amount of punishment before even being seriously hindered. With his golem body, he shrugs off limb loss and disembowelment without losing his cool. His father would literally carve information into his skin with a knife when he didn't want him to forget it, which Kaito himself has Elisabeth do when he has trouble remembering her castle's floor plan. Midway through volume 1, he has her carve her teleportation circle into his stomach as part of a Zany Scheme, and as a result he is able to reconstruct it from memory at the climax of the battle with Vlad.
