Silhouettes are a great technique for capturing breathtaking aquarium photos, and – bonus! – they’re really easy to capture in aquariums thanks to the unique lighting situation.

Mia Williams, a volatile and socially isolated 15-year-old, lives on an East London council estate with her single mother, Joanne, and younger sister, Tyler. Mia has just fallen out with her best friend, Keely. She doesn't get along with her precocious sister, nor with her verbally abusive mother. Mia provokes Keely's other friends with physical aggression. Mia regularly practices hip-hop dance alone in a deserted flat in her family's building, drinking alcoholic cider beforehand.

One advantage of going with a GoPro is that there are plenty of mounts and stands available, whether you want to prop the camera up outside the aquarium or actually attach it to the glass – a surfboard mount or suction cup could work very well, for example. Locate the rubber O-ring and place it on the base so it sits in the ridge provided. Take the clear cover and place it over the base, and secure it with the M3 nuts and bolts. We recommend going across each one rather than around the base; it will ensure a more even fit. Again, be careful not to over-tighten the screws. Snap the outer cover over the clear cover. Take the small rubber grommet and, very carefully, feed the ribbon cable through, threading it through the grommet until it meets the base. Insert in the slot and secure with the metal plate. You now have a waterproof case. 10. Mount your waterproof camera If you’re new to manual focus, it might seem intimidating at first. Start by practicing on larger, more stationary subjects within the aquarium. Many modern cameras offer features like focus peaking, which highlights the in-focus areas on your screen and helps guide your adjustments. These aids can be incredibly effective as you learn to navigate manual focus. Depending on its settings, your camera may produce a similar result, or you may need to make the exposure adjustments discussed above. Unfortunately, when shooting toward glass from a distance, you’ll often end up with some ambient light reflections, but if they bother you, you can always remove them during post-processing. 7. Consider the direction of the light Fish Tank is a 2009 British drama film written and directed by Andrea Arnold. The film is about Mia, a volatile and socially isolated 15-year-old, and her relationship with her mother's new boyfriend. Fish Tank was well-received and won the Jury Prize at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. [3] It also won the 2010 BAFTA for Best British Film. It was included in the BBC's The 21st Century's 100 greatest films (compiled in 2016), ranking at no. 65 on the list. [4]

You've got water, glass and all the resulting lighting complications to deal with when you're taking fish tank photos, and these all need to be taken into account. Shooting with your camera perpendicular to the glass, for example, can help reduce the chances of distortion from the fish tank itself. Tank manufacturing giant Juwel has released a new underwater camera for aquariums. Named SmartCam, it’s a small, waterproof camera that you place in your tank enabling photos, video, live and recorded footage that’s viewable on your phone or tablet from anywhere in the world. When investing in lenses, remember that quality matters and that reputable brands generally offer superior performance and build. Best accessories for aquarium photography You don't want your smartphone sitting by the fish tank all day, but if you're about to upgrade and there's an old handset going spare, this might be an option. You don't need a phone with a particularly advanced camera to take fish tank shots, but as with the GoPros, usually the pricier devices will work better. Something to consider if you are taking the phone route is a macro lens: attach a lens such as the Moment Macro Lens and it can help make your close-ups that little bit sharper (just make sure you buy a lens that's compatible with the phone you're using). Suction cups can work well for phones too: any mount that can fix your phone to your car windshield can also fix it to the side of your fish tank, though you may need to get creative with the positioning to make sure the phone ends up pointing in the right direction. Shooting through glass isn't easy, as we'll get into in the section below. We’re going to be using a real-time video streaming server to watch our fish (or whatever you’ve decided). This requires some supporting software so we can build and run it, so now is the time to get everything ready. Make sure you have run sudo apt -y update && sudo apt -y upgrade, as in Step 1. Enter the following command: Your mounting options depend on the camera you're using. Dedicated fish tank camera mounts don't really exist, so that leaves you free to experiment: if you're a keen DIYer then you might want to consider getting your own mount and fixing constructed on the outside of your tank.

Getting up high and pointing your camera down (to achieve this angle, see if you can find a clear glass walkway) Scrietta, Peter (5 January 2010). "Fish Tank Movie Trailer #2". Slash Film . Retrieved 8 July 2016.

Gritten, David (28 August 2009). "Andrea Arnold: 'I wish cinema could be braver' ". Telegraph . Retrieved 8 July 2016. Aquarium images aren’t as easy as I had initially thought. Trying to keep moving subjects in focus that are being lit by low-level artificial lighting is just the tip of the photographic iceberg. And although it took me a while to come up with the ideal exposure, I've got a pretty solid starting point.
Shoot on Manual + Auto ISO + 1/125 sec. + f/5.6 = nice photos of fish shot in a barrel …err, I mean… aquarium.
