not that I understand how 1/2 or 1/4 scale strings differ from full scale strings, to be quite honest. Its smaller size makes it easy to carry around, and its unique sound makes it an ideal choice for those exploring different musical styles.

That really wasn't much of a choice though because currently the D'addario Folk Nylon strings and the Aquila Nlygut Guitalele strings were the only advertised options at my disposal. This way, the diameter variation among each string is considerably smaller, allowing the instrument to sound brighter, more powerful and more responsive through the entire range of the fretboard, especially over the 12th fret.

That said, if you’re going to put steel strings a guitalele, I’d recommend putting extra light strings on like these. But the smaller size of the guitalele means it has different strings, and that is why guitalele players need to know the basics of guitalele strings.

That makes the string less bright, less responsive and more muffled: the thicker the string, the duller the sound.Of course, there is the option cut them off, but it’s an added task to do if you don’t actually need to!

If Aquila could manufacture a ukulele or guitalele set that had wound bronze strings for the bass and the reds for the trebles I think they would have a very unique sounding and popular set of strings on their hands. the attacks are prompt, crisp, and yet it has sweet, incredibly lovely ringing bell-like notes, especially as you go up the E1 string all the way to 12th with excellent intonation, making a song as simple as Deck the Halls at D02 level sound lovely. I also purchased a set of Savarez " Prodige 38" specially designed for fractionnal guitars, and I'm just about to try them on my Gretsch guitalele, the one with a real short scale (43 cms). The GUILELE/GUITALELE RED SERIES sets provide superior performance over traditional strings, and suits all musicians who love clear, sharp sounds and powerful voicing across the full scale of the instrument.I can't really speak to Requinto strings but it looks like the typical scale length is roughly baritone uke or a little longer. They simply don't sound good unless you are delicately picking a Romantic or Classical piece on them.

Aquila makes some loop end strings designed for E tuning on the guitalele if you want to check those out. The Cordoba Mini String set was actually made in conjunction with Aquila strings to preserve the string tone, lifespan, and sound quality of your guitalele. These strings work best in standard guitar tuning and that is my preference when playing popular Guitaleles like the Kanile'a GL6, Islander GL6, Flight GUT850 or Flight Carabao Guitaleles. These D'addario strings appealed to me when I opened the packet because they felt like a more substantial version of the 'GHS' strings my ukulele arrived with.If you are unfamiliar with how a Guitalele is tunes if it is tuned AECGDA which is like a guitar with a capo on the fifth fret or a ukulele with two extra bass strings.
