Made with real fruit juice, these tasty Asian soft drinks offer something for everyone. Nata de Coco Drinks I’ve got to be honest with you; I’m not really into coconut as a drink flavour. So I’m a bit biased against this one to begin with. With that being said, it wasn’t as bad as I was worried it might be - I actually even kind of enjoyed it, although it’s very heavy on the coconut flavouring! There’s also something unusual about that same coconut flavour existing in jelly form, which to me was just a little bit too much. Just because of my personal preferences, I’ll give this one a 5, but if you were more of a coconut drink fan then I think this could well be a new favourite for you! But what is nata de coco? This unique drink ingredient is a translucent jelly made from coconut water. It originates from the Philippines and is a popular addition to many desserts and sweet treats.

The consensus I reached on orange after drinking the whole bottle was that the orange flavour was really strong and tangy, so much so that it actually resembled an orange ice lolly or something like that more than an actual orange. This is not a bad thing, of course - a melted orange Solero or Callipo is what it reminded me of, and as the days are getting warmer in the UK, this was a pretty nice taste to be able to experience. It’d probably be quite interesting in that way if you mixed it on ice. If you like tart but sweet citrus flavours, I would recommend the orange; you can’t really go wrong with it. I’ll give this one a 7/10.

Mogu Mogu is made with real fruit juice, which means it is a source of vitamin C, but also contains a fairly high level of sugar. In general, it is not an unhealthy drink, as it is low in cholesterol, contains zero fat and is around 170 calories per bottle on average. Water, Nata De Coco (25%)(Coconut water, Sugar, Acidity regulator (E260)), Sugar, Fructose Syrup, Coconut Flavour, Acidity Regulator (E327), Acidity Regulator (E514 (ii)), Preservative (E211), Gelling Agent (E418). There’s something about this lychee flavour that was difficult to place. The flavour itself is a very good imitation of lychee, but it also had a kind of… floral taste to it? If you’re looking for a drink that’s still sweet but perhaps a little less sweet than the other flavours of mogu mogu, this would be a good one to choose. It reminded me a lot of the lychee flavoured popping pearls or perhaps more specifically, the lychee jelly that you might get in a bubble tea. It’s pretty good, and I’d definitely drink it again. I’d give it a strong 7.5/10. Mogu Mogu comes in 320ml bottles, perfect for enjoying at home, on the go, or in your lunch bag. If there is a particular flavour that you love, you can also get bulk boxes of 24 bottles. Where is Mogu Mogu From? One thing to be mindful of is that due to the nata de coco that’s added to the liquid. It is high in dietary fibre as this is coconut jelly.Recently it’s become popular with another oriental drink, Bubble Tea. This is another drink that is rising to fame in the UK and this blog post from Twinings explains exactly what it is – ‘What is Bubble Tea?’. In general, yes, Mogu Mogu is a healthy drink.
