Description

Add a few drops of essential oils like lemon or peppermint for a pleasant smell and added grease-removing power. But our laundry habits too a sudden turn when we bought a new toy last year: we’ve been enjoying the LaundryPure machine . It uses UV light for some disinfection and an ionizer to make the water as soft as soap makes it….so no soap is needed..no product at all is needed. The smell of the laundry is unscented and fresh….though I occasionally put a few drops of essential oil into the wash for fragrance, but that’s pure luxury. Soap nuts are naturally anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and antimicrobial, and can be used to help keep your home and your laundry hygienically clean. Wash nuts contain all-natural soap substances called saponins , which act as a surfactant to help remove dirt from surfaces. The name saponin actually originates from Latin "sapo" = soap.

You wouldn't think so by just looking at them, but almonds are actually pretty dirty straight out of the bag. Don't feed yourself and your family dirty food when the task of cleaning them is such a simple one. To get started, scarify the seeds coat using a sandpaper or nail file. Some seeds may be tough to the extent that you will need to hammer them. This, however, should be done with a lot of care not to crush the seeds. Your main objective is to weaken the coat.Although cold water will stimulate the release of saponins from the nuts to an extent, it may not be sufficient to get your laundry as clean as you would like it. Anyway, they contain naturally-occurring saponins that, when mixed with water, have the power to lift stains and grime. To do your laundry, you just toss a few nuts into a little cloth bag and then throw that into your wash, which you can use a number of times before you compost the nuts.

The seed should be planted as soon as they are received and not be stored. Below are the steps that you need to follow to ensure your nut tree grows successfully: Despite the name, soap nuts are not actual nuts, but are berries (which is why you’ll sometimes see them referred to as ‘soap berries’). Soap nuts’ saponins can be used to clean a wide range of surfaces without damaging them. Soap nut liquid makes a fantastic all-purpose cleaner for kitchens, bathrooms, windows, and mirrors. The good thing is that you do not have to change them every time you go to put a washing machine, but the washing nuts can last up to 3 washes if it is not at a temperature higher than 40 degrees and up to 2 washes if it exceeds 60. As there are no harsh chemicals or bleach in soap nuts, they’re suitable to use on all your clothes, including delicate silk and wool items, and baby clothes. You can even use them to hand-wash clothes that are too delicate to go into the washing machine – just place the bag, with the nuts inside, into warm water and wait for a few minutes until the soap is released, then add your clothes and wash as normal. The process of germination can occur anywhere between the first and third summer month of planting. It can even take longer in cold months; you will have to ensure the pots gets some warmth and receive enough light. To scrub them, simply grab them in a fist and kind of grind them together for a few minutes. This uses the almonds themselves to clean the others!

The reason I discovered the issue was because out almond milk was grainy the first time I made it from scratch... after some investigation I of course discovered that the culprit was our dirty almonds! I’ve been using soap nuts for my laundry for the last four months. (Except on diapers. I’ve continued to use my homemade detergent on those).

What are soap nuts?

While you can find saponin in other shells, such as chestnuts, soap nuts are full of the stuff. The trees themselves begin to bear fruit after nine years and can carry on producing soap berries for 90 years or more. How to use soap nuts If you are trying to reach or maintain a healthy weight, the fiber and fats in nuts can allow you to leave your meals with a fuller, more satisfying feeling. But I figured that alone wouldn’t quite cut it for a review. You might want a few more details than that.
