It’s probably harder to tell the difference in the painted grout in that bathroom because I did use white grout originally, so the difference isn’t as dramatic as the difference in my mom’s grout. But the original grout in this bathroom dried to a dull off-white color. So paint to the rescue! In our current house, I don’t have any grout that hasn’t been painted either with latex paint or Grout Renew. The accent tile in the hallway bathroom has painted grout (along with some strategically painted tiles). Here’s what it looked like right after the remodel…

Be consistent with the amount of clean cold water used with the cement based grout from mix to mix when grout larger areas. Your first impulse may be to reach for the brightest white you can get, especially if you’re using white tile. But wait, it’s important to take the time to compare color samples. I just can’t stop staring at that. I’m so amazed by the difference! It’s like she got a whole new tile floor, and all we did is lighten the grout color. Tile and grout in showers receive a lot of water wear along with the potential for mildew that can creep into those places and discolor grout. Again, light grout show the most wear, but with proper cleaning and care can usually be avoided. Wood tile is such a calm and comforting tile material. The same considerations apply to wooden tiles. If grouting with BAL Micromax2 Grout externally, provide protection against inclement weather during grouting and for as long as possible afterwards. However, that shouldn’t stop you from using the color you love. Applying a high-quality sealer after installation will help protect your grout from stains. Also, regularly cleaning your grout (every two weeks or more often if needed) will keep it looking its best.
