Description

The alarm will activate when the value reaches a set threshold and will deactivate when the value clears this threshold. The thresholds are configurable. For more information, see the Alarm settings chapter. When connecting with the VictronConnect app, while an alarm is active, the alarm will show in the app. Alternatively, when the battery monitor is connected to a GX device, the alarm will show on the GX device display or the VRM portal. This parameter is used to tell the battery monitor how big the battery is. This setting should already have been done during the initial installation. The setting is the battery capacity in Amp hours (Ah). The SmartShunt is a powerful battery monitor with Bluetooth on board. It can be installed out of sight, behind the scenes – whilst live data from the device is relayed to your mobile phone or laptop via the VictronConnect App, which is free to use.

Helps to calculate remaining time of battery (based on current rate of discharge … hmmm the current current). Basically this is the amount (in percentage) that you want to not be part of the normal 100% of usable energy in your battery. Please note that if the "Consumed Ah" reading indicates three dashes: “---” this means that the battery monitor is in an unsynchronised state. This mainly occurs when the battery monitor has just been installed or after the battery monitor has been left unpowered and is powered up again. For more information, see the Synchronising the battery monitor chapter. By connect I mean I can launch VictronConnect and see from the Device List the basic live reporting information sent from the shunt. So far so good. It's doing what I hoped it would do. Are you looking for an all-in-one solution to your campervan electrical system?

Do this if you know the battery is 100% and, for some reason it’s not being reported as such. This can happen under a few scenarios: The strata programmable valve for shunt-dependent hydrocephalus: the pediatric experience at a single institution. Childs Nerv Syst. 2007; 23( 3):297–303. [ PubMed] [ Google Scholar] Alternatively the SmartShunt can be connected and be read by a GX device. Connection to the SmartShunt is made via a VE.Direct cable. Once you’ve added up the total appliance wattage, add 20%. This will tell you the minimum size inverter you’ll require. Included in the box are two fused-cables for +ive connection; and for second battery – or midpoint – monitoring.

The diagnosis and treatment of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus. Nat Clin Pract Neurol. 2006; 2( 7):375–81. [ PubMed] [ Google Scholar] As soon as the battery monitor detects that the voltage of the battery has reached the set “Charged voltage” parameter and the current has dropped below the “Tail current” for a certain amount of time, the battery monitor will set the state of charge to 100%. Charged Detection Time (m) Working principle of a variable pressure valve. An external magnetic tool is used to rotate and adjust the valve. The orientation of the valve is measured by an external indicator. This is the actual state of charge of the battery in a percentage and is compensated for both the Peukert efficiency and charge efficiency. The state of charge is the best way to monitor the battery. Before we even get to the SmartShunt settings you’ll want to make sure your BMS and charger are similar. In our case, we set our JK BMS with active balancing to 3.55v high-volt-disconnect (per cell meaning a total of 14.2v for the battery). This is also the default for a Victron Multiplus when LiFePO4 is chosen.

The Victron manual states: The “charged voltage” parameter should be set to 0.2V or 0.3V below the float voltage of the charger. The SmartShunt can also be connected to any device in the GX family including the Colour Control GX and the new Cerbo GX using an optional VE.Direct cable. This provides the GX device with battery data for system control – and there’s no need to find room for a BMV display. Displays: Voltage/ Current / Power / Ah Consumed / State of Charge (%) / Time-to-go / Total kWh charged/discharged Advances in ICP monitoring techniques. Neurol Res. 2003; 25( 4):339–50. [ PubMed] [ Google Scholar] A connection with the VictronConnect app is possible via Bluetooth or USB. The VictronConnect app can be used to read out all monitored battery parameters or to change settings. To connect via USB, an optional VE.Direct to USB interface is needed.

This is the actual current flowing in or out of the battery. A negative current indicates that current is taken from the battery. This is the current needed for DC loads. A positive current means that current is going into the battery. This is current coming from charge sources. Keep in mind that the battery monitor will always indicate the total battery current, being the current traveling into the battery minus the current traveling out of the battery. Before we even get to the settings, please note that these three parameters work together to determine when your battery is at 100% State of Charge (SOC): Alternatively, the SmartShunt can be connected and be read by a GX device. Connection to the SmartShunt is made via a VE.Direct cable. The battery voltage must be above this voltage level to consider the battery as fully charged. As soon as the battery monitor detects that the voltage of the battery has reached the “charged voltage” and the current has dropped below the “tail current” for a certain amount of time, the battery monitor will set the state of charge to 100%. This setting is relatively simple, if you have a single battery it’s really easy (the stated capacity of your battery in Ah) If your battery capacity is stated in Kwh then divide by the voltage of your battery.Set the Peukert exponent according the battery specification sheet. If the Peukert exponent is unknown, set it at 1.25 for lead-acid batteries and set it at 1.05 for lithium batteries. A value of 1.00 disables the Peukert compensation. The Peukert value for lead- acid batteries can be calculated. Charge efficiency factor (%) The battery monitor continuously measures the current flow in and out of the battery. Integration of this current over time, if it was a fixed current, boils down to multiplying current and time and gives the net amount of Ah added or removed. It’s likely you’ll want to use more than one appliance at a time. It is therefore important to factor the total wattage into your inverter calculations.

The latest two devices are battery-powered (coin cell style) and the battery lasts 3-6 months, working 24/7. Telemetric implantable pressure sensor for short-and long-term monitoring of intracranial pressure. Proceedings of the 29th Annual International Conference of the IEEE EMBS; 2007: 514. [ PubMed] The charge efficiency of a lead acid battery is almost 100% as long as no gas generation takes place. Gassing means that part of the charge current is not transformed into chemical energy, which is stored in the plates of the battery, but is used to decompose water into oxygen and hydrogen gas (highly explosive!). The energy stored in the plates can be retrieved during the next discharge, whereas the energy used to decompose water is lost. Gassing can easily be observed in flooded batteries. Please note that the ‘oxygen only’ end of the charge phase of sealed (VRLA) gel and AGM batteries also results in a reduced charge efficiency. The shunt is fitted in-line with theleisure/house battery's negative cable, the starter/auxiliary battery's negative cable is connected to the shunt's output and fused +ve supplies are takenfrom each battery into the shunt's 2 inputs. As an alternative to monitoringthe voltage of a2nd battery, the shunt's2nd/auxiliary inputcan be used for temperature monitoring (requires optional temperature sensor) or midpoint monitoring. The information from the SmartShunt can also be displayed on a GX device by connecting with a VE.Direct cable.
