Description

Overall, the movement is a robust and has been used in many Orient’s for many years without much issues, though I kinda feel Orient should upgrade all of their watches with their newer movement.

April - response from Orient USA about the cost, inability to supply parts direct, time delays from Covid, and whether I resided in USA or Canada This watch uses the Cal. 48743 automatic self-wind movement made in house by Orient. The usage of automatic movement means that it basically does not uses any battery like a quartz watch. The dauphine hands also has the same beveled design. On top of the markers at the outer edge of the dial are minute markings which is useful to help tell and set time accurately.

Authenticity

The repair I wanted to my Orient, from Orient USA, was for a new leather strap. That’s it. Similar experience, “We can’t do anything.” Thank goodness I was able to get it done in Japan from a local watchmaker who reached out and Lord knows how he did it. But it got done. And it was very high-quality, and actually on-brand. Amazing. Clearly over here artisans take pride in their craft. That may not be the case forever, I see this trend and tailoring and other special services losing their generational oomph due to - aging and no replacement.

Thrilled with the quality for the price, as well as the great communication and customer service from Island Watches. Already on the lookout for my next Orient, and I know who I will be buying it from! The average turnaround time for repairs is 6-8 weeks, but it would likely be much longer at this time due to our service station being closed as a result of COVID-19, plus the transit time each way.

Sorry, um, is that not part of the definition of consumption is it not? I am no economist but yes, the cost/time ratio has shifted with time rendering items requiring service, disposable. Again, not sure what you're getting at by accusing my principles as the issue here.I was frustrated reading into the position someone took about planned obsolescence, but I guess it’s reality. Aside from so-called missed opportunities, the brown crocodile-grain leather strap pairs well with the dial. Orient wisely decided to endow the Symphony with 22mm lugs, so you can swap said strap out easily enough if you want to. In this article, we are reviewing and looking closer at the Orient Symphony and what it has to offer. But to get a better understanding of what this model, has to offer, let’s look at Orient’s own words about it. When I reviewed the Bambino I complained that the strap wasn’t as comfortable as I’d like it to have been. Happily, the Symphony’s strap feels softer and more luxurious. It’s lightweight and comfortable to wear for hours at a time. At Orient, they believe in letting the quality of their watches speak for themselves. Therefore, unlike many Swiss brands, they spend a limited amount on advertising. Instead, they focus on creating timepieces that match or even surpass, the quality of more expensive watches while keeping the prices reasonable. They accomplish this by using superior materials, employing skilled artisans, and producing their own in-house movements that are highly accurate and dependable.
