Two coats can be applied on wooden furniture, doors and joinery, but only one coat is recommended on wooden flooring – a clear top coat of Osmo Polyx®-Oil is required (approx. 24hrs after the first coat). The white build up could be a couple of issues, if you have used the Osmo Polyx Oil Raw , this product has a small amount of white pigment to counteract the darkening you get with a clear oil. Against a darker wood the white will show through and you get that milky appearance. For a wider choice of colour tones, or if a more intense colour tone is desired see Osmo Wood Wax Finish.

White is recommended to be used as a stand-alone finish without a top coat of clear Polyx-Oil. Alternatively 3040 can be used as a top coat after application of Osmo Wood Wax Finish 3111 White, to preserve the desired intensity of white and reduce the effects of yellowing.Occasional Maintenance: If the oiled surface remains light in colour yet there is a reduction in water repellency, refresh the surface with Osmo Maintenance Oil 3079 Clear Matt. Before using Osmo Maintenance Oil 3079, damp clean the surface using diluted Osmo Wash and Care, or alternatively Osmo Spray cleaner and allow to fully dry. For small areas Osmo Maintenance Oil 3079 can be applied thinly with a lint free cloth or white pad. Remove excess product. Allow for good ventilation while drying. A small trial is highly recommended first. Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect is the ultimate choice for protecting and enhancing your wood surfaces. This high-quality finish is made from natural plant-based oils and waxes, making it environmentally friendly and safe to use. Osmo Polyx Oil is the original hard wax oil a combination of natural oils and waxes for use on almost any interior project. Hard Wax Oil is almost as hard as a varnish but easier to repair. All you need is a rag apply the oil over the affected areas without having to remove any previous finish. New untreated wood in its original form has a light, pale character from its natural 'raw' appearance. Sanded wood also has this effect. Osmo Polyx Oil Raw is designed to retain this appearance by using a small amount of white pigments to counteract the darker 'damp-look' that develops after application of a clear oil or varnish finish.

My first recommendation will be to take a look at the Manns Classic Pine Stain and the reason for this is versatility. This is a water based stain, it will soak into the woods surface and colour it, there is a wide range of colour options and you are able to intermix these colours to create new ones. You also have the benefit of sample sizes, so you are able to select a few and try some small test areas on your wood. And this will be vital as the wood type, age and condition will all impact on the colour result that will be achieved. If you do get into mixing the colours, then be sure to record ratios and measure exactly so that future larger mixes will be the same. LIMITED OFFER: Free Osmo Soft Tip Brush 25mm when purchasing a 750ml size tin of Osmo Raw, or a half price Osmo Floor Brush 400mm when purchasing 2.5ll. Simply add the products to your basket to qualify, the relevant discount will be automatically applied. Wood first treated with Osmo Wood Protector 4006 may appear a little more dark. Always trial apply Osmo Polyx®-Oil 3044 Raw over the Wood Protector to ensure the final appearance meets with expectations. One thing I would avoid for at least 2 weeks it putting down any rugs, this will certainly slow down the curing process and result in a patch on you floor when in the future you come to lift the rug.Yes, over-application of wood oil can be easily remedied by dampening a clean, lint free cloth in white spirit and wiping off the excess oil. Take care not to use too much white spirit and wipe in the direction of the wood grain. This will break down and remove the surplus oil from the surface of the wood.

Free sachet delivery is available on all Rust-Oleum sachets. These are shipped direct from the manufacturer using Whistl. Can take 5-10 working days. What’s the deal with clear? A clear product suggests it doesn’t change the colour of the wood, but it actually does. Clear Polyx Oil will bring out the natural tone and patina of the wood, enhancing the grain giving it will appear darker and what we call the “wet look”. Osmo Interior Polyx Oil Effect Raw - 3044 is a lightly white pigmented wood oil designed for using on wooden flooring and furniture. Multi-purpose cleaners such as washing up liquids and detergents are highly detrimental to the finished surface and is not recommended to be used as discolouration or staining may be possible. The emphasis on the wood’s grain and natural characteristics provide a warm and rich effect to ensure that any interior looks luxurious and elegant. Not only suitable for wooden flooring, Osmo Polyx Oil Effect Raw - 3044 is also perfect for using on wooden doors, kitchen worktops, furniture and more. One of the key benefits of Polyx-Oil Effect is its durability. It is scratch and scuff resistant, making it perfect for high traffic areas in your home. It is also water and dirt repellent, making it easy to clean and maintain. Osmo Polyx Oil Raw is an interior hard wax wood oil which is designed to retain the natural raw appearance of lighter coloured timbers. Clear oils can darken the appearance of the wood. To retain the light character of oak please use Osmo Polyx®-Oil 3044 Raw.

We want a light-coloured look that is as close to the original pine as possible. We also want to keep the character of the reclaimed wood surface as intact as possible - it's been lightly wire-brushed by machine but still has plenty of colour variation, holes, knots and bumps. These make us happy. Osmo Polyx Oil Raw retains the 'raw', light characteristics of untreated wood, meaning no more 'permanent wet look'. The ingredients use a small amount of white pigment to neutralise this darkening effect which generally occurs after application of a clear wood oil. The end result is a smooth beautiful finish with nearly-invisible protection. Keeps light interior woodwork and flooring looking light, ideal for Scandi-style interiors. Osmo Polyx-Oil 3051 Raw is designed to retain an untreated appearance on light coloured woods such as Oak, Ash, Birch and Maple. Neutralises the permanent ‘wet-look’ that develops after the application of a clear oil-based finish and keeps the wood looking raw and untreated. Osmo oil hit the British market around 15 years ago and since then it seems to have taken over!! It is everywhere!! In this review I’m going to talk about the Osmo products I’m most familiar with and give you my honest opinion based on my experience as a professional decorator. As well as giving you my Osmo oil review, I want to talk about the best place to buy Osmo oil. I hope you find it useful. Regular Cleaning: Dust mopping using the green Dust-Mop from the Osmo Mop Cleaning Kit for Floors. Damp mopping using diluted Osmo Wash and Care and the Micro-Mop plush from the Osmo Mop Cleaning Kit for Floors. Alternatively use the convenient Osmo Spray-Mop.For daily maintenance, cleaning with a dry duster, floor mop or vacuum cleaner will be sufficient. For commercial premises, an electric floor polisher can be used. A common question that we get asked, is if Pine can be made to look like or get closer to an Oak appearance. The answer is not really, they are two very different wood types, in colour, grain pattern, and how they accept products. So to get a match is very difficult. That said however you are able to bring them closer in appearance for sure. A. Probably not because the small content of white pigment in this product tends to collect in the grooves and other rough areas of the wood to show through more.
