Best of all, you can manage the Python packages inside your your virtual environment inside with pip (Python’s package manager). If you need to solder anything to your product or make any other modifications please make sure that you test the product is working first. However, most edge AI devices are able to provide offline capabilities (built-in storage, robust auto-rebooting capabilities).

Figure 5: Getting started with object detection using the Google Coral EdgeTPU USB Accelerator device. PyCoral is a Python library built on top of the TensorFlow Lite library to speed up your development and provide extra functionality for the Edge TPU. If you’re interested in learning how to train your own custom models for Google’s Coral I would recommend you take a look at my upcoming book, Raspberry Pi for Computer Vision(Complete Bundle) where I’ll be covering the Google Coral in detail. This is only recommended if you really need the maximum power, as the USB Accelerator's metal can become very hot to the touch when you're running in max mode.Object detection: Detect objects and people (using face recognition) with a real-time video of a camera. The dev board could be thought of an “advanced Raspberry Pi for AI” or a competitor to NVIDIA’s Jetson Nano.

wb666greene, I know this is an old message, but I am curious and I would like to ask you why do you consider the NCS2 far inferior to the Coral TPU. The moment I saw the Framework laptop and the expansion card system I knew I have to make something. The Coral USB Accelerator is a USB accessory that contains a specialized ASIC (Edge TPU) for acceleration of machine learning (ML) inferencing calculations. I've been using an OAK-D Lite (same Movidius Myriad X as the NCS2, afaik) and I would say it's quite good, therefore I would expect a NCS2 connected to something like a RPI4 to be even better. The on-board Edge TPU coprocessor gives the board its unique power, making it capable of performing 4 trillion operations (tera-operations) per second (TOPS), using 0. I would be interested to see what kind of creative projects people would come up with, as a laptop isn’t your typical machine learning platform. Coral is a line of products from Google focused on letting you easily build on-device intelligence into your products and projects.

The above command installs the default Edge TPU runtime, which operates at a reduced clock frequency.Figure 2: Getting started with Google’s Coral TPU accelerator and the Raspberry Pi to perform bird classification.
