They testified that as the first students to arrive for the lecture they saw the dog in the passage in readiness for the demonstration and followed Bayliss (and his attendant) into the lecture room.

It seemed to Coleridge that it would be almost impossible to succeed by following that particular path, but one loophole remained. The inaugural gin from Little Brown Dog Spirits, this Scottish gin showcases a few unusual botanicals. Really liked the start of this and as a South Londoner appreciate this bit of history being resurrected. What they witness horrifies them and they swear to bring the perpetrator, a celebrated physician William Bayling to justice. However, with the election of a new Council of a different political hue, the situation changed and, on 9 March 1910, the Council approved the decision to remove the monument. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The story is much more than a poor little brown dog as it covers what life was really like at that time. Little Brown Dog Spirits was officially established in 2018 by vet and whisky connoisseur Andrew Smith and farmer Chris Reid in rural Aberdeenshire. It described how the supposedly serious business of vivisection demonstrations in medical schools were often no more than entertainments.Enjoying the independence of creating unique and experimental spirits, including gin, the team plan on releasing a number of one-off limited edition spirits. Stephen Coleridge, who took up the appointment of Honorary Secretary in 1897 (remaining until 1936) came from a family of committed anti-vivisectionists; his father had been one of NAVS’ vice-presidents and Stephen had not been converted to, but born into the cause. The issue of the Brown Dog was a key feature in the first undercover investigation of animal experiments by anti-vivisectionists, and the subject of the 1903 Bayliss-Coleridge libel case - Dr Bayliss of London University versus the Honorary Secretary of the National Anti-Vivisection Society. The distillery focuses on flavour and producing innovative spirits, including gin, that combine provenance and break down some of the traditions associated with the world of spirits.
