But it wasn't until a year later when Sophie posted the parody 'Smell Of You' - swapping Sheeran's lyrics about meeting a girl for the mundane life of Tom Hardy-loving, nit-phobic, Dairylea-covered mums - that she started to get noticed. In her book, Sophie asks: "When it comes to adult life, and parenthood, you will never be ready. So what happens when you hit your mid-thirties and still feel like an out-of-depth teen trapped in the slightly sagging skin suit of a tired and tested mother of two?" Read More Related Articles

What's the most important lesson you've learned as a parent?

Cara Stringer, née Carmichael, aged 37, is married to Dom, a professional football manager (although elsewhere he is referred to as the assistant head coach, and yes, it is Man United) and consequently they live in a huge house in Cheshire. She still fancies him but he has a secret that blows up her world. Move on two years and she is hell bent on accompanying her friend Jac and more friends on her hen do to Ibiza.

Cara Carmichael’s bestie is finally getting hitched, and she’s over the moon because it means one thing… Whoah, they’re going to Ibiza! Mums on Tour: ditching kids, partners and better judgement for a long-weekend of sun, sea, and sex…y support pants. What could possibly go ‘Pete Tong’? I really did enjoy reading Mother Hens and felt that I could not put it down, I needed to know what happens! When reading, you will notice a few dramas that you can see coming and will rightly assume what will happen. However the total spanner in the works comes at Chapter 32! Fast forward 2 years and it is her best fiends hen do in Ibiza. Still in a downward spiral, her friends try their best to fear her up for the mother of all hen dos.Trying to resolve the situation, she went part-time, working three days a week. " I just found my regular workload was squashed in to the three days I was in the office," she says. "I was essentially doing five days a week and getting paid for three. I also wanted to share the light and the shade of my personal journey. I laugh a lot and there is a lot of comedy in the book, but life isn’t always funny and parenting certainly isn’t always funny. Sometimes it’s hard and it wouldn’t be a fair representation of my life if it wasn’t included.” Lazy days, crazy nights and child-free hangovers sound like hedonistic heaven – but it turns out you can get into a hell of a lot of trouble on the party island where rules are meant to be broken.

Winner of the 2020 Funny Women Award for Best Comedy Series, her online videos reach a global audience. Tired and Tested: The Wild Ride Into Parenthood is Sophie’s first book and is published by Harper Collins. But it's not the career that Sophie, a former pupil at Springwood Primary School and St Hilda's High School, ever thought she would have. She said: "I've got lots of things in the pipeline. I'm writing a book which encompasses motherhood but it's not all about that. It's about my progression as a 20 something who never wanted to get married with all the joys, highs and lows in between. And then someone suggested taking it to the next level by doing a vlog. I was like I can't do that and then I had this idea of a parenting parody. I went from never wanting to appear in front of a camera to a full-on music video. I feel like I need to give the new baby some attention. Because I don’t recommend writing the book when pregnant: I went into labour early with him, so I had to finish the book after he was born,” she says.

How did your previous experiences with your miscarriages affect this pregnancy for you?

A mother-of-two who went viral with an MC Hammer parody of 'I Can't Teach This' has become a number one best selling author with her debut book Tired and Tested:The Wild Ride Into Parenthood. The self-described 'comedimum' has gained millions of views on social media and has grown a loyal fanbase in the process.
