If you’re planning on tinting your rear windows to the darkest legal tint level, make sure you buy two separate window tint kits. It’s not easy to give an estimate on how long a window tint will last. This mostly depends on the type of the tint, but also exposure to the sun, and potential scratching damage. However, if you get a normal quality window tint, you can expect at least a couple of years of service from a single set. And if you decide to invest in a higher-quality ceramics set, you may get as much as ten years of use out of them. 2. When should I replace my window tint? Ultraviolet radiation is a part of the spectrum of radiation that the sun emits non-stop. This low-frequency radiation is powerful ionizing radiation, which means that it has the capability to damage the DNA cells – our genes. UV rays can’t pierce very deeply, so they mainly cause issues in people’s skin. Prolonged exposure to UV rays can cause premature skin aging, but also incurable diseases like skin cancer. On the other hand, UV rays also affect polymers, so all kinds of plastics are susceptible to damage. If left unprotected, the color of your dashboard and faux leather upholstery fades, and over time the materials become brittle and fragile. Along with the sun’s rays, window tint reflects the harmful ultraviolet rays. This natural component of the sun’s radiation can be very harmful to both you and the insides of your vehicle.

Tinting your side windows is fairly simple, but windshields and rear windows are a different case. If you want to safely and legally tint non-side windows, 70% tint is your best bet. It’s important to note that there are plenty of states that don’t allow you to tint your entire windshield. On top of that, some states require dual side mirrors in lieu of a non-tinted window. In general, however, you don’t have anything to worry about when installing 70% tint. If you have an old tint that needs removing, you can do it with a fabric steamer. Use steam to soften the adhesive, peel the tint off, and wash your windows. There are some states where you simply aren’t allowed to tint your front side windows. Even though these states are strict about front side window tint, some of them allow you to use the darkest window tint on the market when it comes to your rear side windows. Tinting Your Rear Side Windows By tinting the windows in your home, it is also possible to ensure a manageable and enjoyable internal temperature. Left untreated, solar energy can stream through glazing, steadily heating up the interior until it becomes uncomfortable; particularly in rooms with large quantities of glass such as conservatories or orangeries. The film or tint works by reflecting away a percentage of the sun’s solar energy, preventing the steady build up of heat throughout the day.Pressing the tint in place with your hand, trace two of the straight edges of your windows with a knife. If you’re working on your driver side window, you should cut the bottom and the right edge. Pull the film towards the side edge, leaving around 1 inch of spare tint. Many of the states that have tint darkness laws for rear windshields have a limit of around 30 or 35%. There are some states that have a limit as low as 10% as well as others with a limit as high as 50%.

Visible light transmission (VLT) is the most important metric to focus on when it comes to tint darkness. When people refer to “ 5% tint” or “ 20% tint,” they’re talking about the VLT level. So, what exactly does the VLT of window tint tell you? The law in the UK states that you have to allow a minimum of 70% of light through the front driver and passenger side windows. Meaning that you can legally install the 70% tint on these windows unless the glass is already tinted. In commercial settings, using air conditioning is a common way of reducing heat, yet it is both expensive and harmful to the environment. Installation of solar control window film is a cost-efficient way of delivering effective solar control without the harmful emissions that air conditioning units can be responsible for.IRER – Infrared Energy Rejection: The percent of solar infrared energy rejection over the wavelength range from 780–2,500 nm. IRER takes into account the transmitted and absorbed IR energy that will be reradiated into a car. Regardless of the film, you choose, installing it onto your windows at home is a straightforward process. You will need a plant spray bottle and some washing up liquid, while if your film is supplied by the metre, you will also need a knife (a decent craft knife will be fine) to trim the window tint to your exact size. Every Police car should be included. If you find some vehicle which i forgot about, please text me. Even if i do not really think this mod will ever need an update. (I will update it, if required!) The percentage of VLT, which can be easily found on any window tint label, is the most important factor when it comes to the legality of tint. However, factory tinted windows can create a slight complication as the states regulate total tint, and not only the tint of the applied film. For starters, most states allow different window tint levels for different windows. While you may be able to tint window with 35% tint, another window may require 40% tint. Conversely, it could be the case that some windows have no restrictions in terms of VLT level. Sometimes it’s best to buy a few different window tint percentages so you can mix and match.

Interestingly enough, there are no states that don’t allow you to tint your rear window. No matter where you live, you can put some level of tint on your rear windshield and still drive legally. Dark Tint vs. Light TintNow, with your piece of tint stable on the outside of your window, spray the tint itself with water. You should spray the exposed side, which is currently the peel-off layer. 2.2. Measure and cut If you have a large window, we recommend that installation is undertaken with two people, or consider utilizing The Window Film Company’s professional fitting service. Nationwide fitting service Thoroughly wash your windows inside and out. Don’t use ammonia-based cleaners like Windex, because these can make your tint turn purple. Instead, you can use a bit of dish soap, or any specialized car wash soap. When cleaning your windows, roll them up and down to get all of the edges and the lower part as well. Use a squeegee to get all of the water off your windows. Let your windows dry thoroughly. Installing window tint all by yourself is not an easy task, and you will need a bit of patience and persistence to get it right. If you’re not confident in your DIY skills, you may want to consider getting the professional installation done to save yourself some trouble. However, even though it seems very complicated in the beginning, installing window tint is not as difficult once you get started.
