Alright, we’ve come to the end of our Sage Oracle Touch espresso machine review . My seven-month journey with the Sage Oracle Touch has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows. You can add more preset coffee options with the Oracle Touch, as the PrimaDonna only has room for five. Touch Screens on Both Machines It’s time to get into the nitty gritty of why this machine is so darn cool. So, without further ado, let’s continue this Breville Oracle Touch review by looking at all the features on offer. Size and Design Like an industrial machine from your local cafe, this high-tech appliance has an integrated conical steel burr grinder, usually found in some of the best burr coffee grinders , for grinding, dosing and tamping.

I filled the hopper with our Rotate Espresso to ensure I used only the freshest coffee. Fresh beans make a huge difference in the flavour of the espresso, so it's crucial to pay attention to this detail. Remember earlier in this Breville Oracle Touch review when I mentioned how the machine employs commercial-grade components? The 58 millimeter portafilter is a case in point. It’s little things like this that cause you to think twice before spending thousands on a machine promising to make your day easier. No matter which machine you choose, our coffee subscription can provide freshly roasted speciality coffee beans to ensure you get the best-tasting espresso possible. What makes the Oracle Touch stand out is its dual boiler construction. One is dedicated to steam, and the other to espresso. You already have five pre-set options to choose from. Usually, having an espresso machine ends up becoming another addictive hobby. With these options, it doesn’t have to be.

It's crafted for coffee fanatics who don't want to worry about tinkering with settings or figuring out how things work, ensuring they get the perfect cup of joe. The touch screen makes it easy to use. There are no buttons to push; all you have to do is swipe. Sage Oracle Touch Features One amazing feature within this machine is the adjustable PID controller. That’s a fancy term for producing perfectly balanced espresso shots. The Sage by Heston Blumenthal the Oracle Touch can seem intimidating. It's big and expensive. However, within 15 minutes you'll be set up and ready to go. It’s deceptively easy, and you only need to be half aware of what’s going on behind the scenes. Seven months ago, I got my hands on the Sage Oracle Touch coffee machine. I wanted to specifically craft that ideal espresso at home every single time. While it may not be as sophisticated and State of The Art as the Eagle One Prima (Read my Eagle One Prima review here) I honestly think Sage Barista is as quality as it gets. The Oracle Touch is a fully automatic espresso machine that guides you through each process and comes with a heated group head for brew temperature control. Whilst they aren't deal-breakers, sharing these issues and their solutions is important so you know what to expect and how to fix them if you get this espresso machine.

Sage had truly considered every aspect of the coffee-making process, providing the necessary tools to make the experience good. Here’s where things get interesting. While you could totally use the Breville Oracle Touch like a regular espresso machine – by preparing espresso then steaming milk – it’s been designed to feel more automatic. Having only 5 drinks as standard is very low compared to other automatic coffee machinesat this price. But Breville has deviated from having a long list of drinks (of which most people only use 20%) simply as a marketing ploy. Instead, their focus is moreon allowing you to create your perfect drinks and save them. Inside the box, my eyes were fixed on the Sage Oracle Touch machine, boasting a sleek design and sturdy build quality. The Barista Touch has a water tank capacity of 250g, whilst Sage the Oracle Touch has a total of 280g.

Ranging from 1 to 9, the milk consistency levels are an indication of how stiff your foam will be. Maxed out at level 9, you get bubble bath. Yes, you’ll have heard some bozo trumpet this as the ultimate in cappuccino froth. Don’t fall for it. Level 3 is where the latte artists play. Indeed, there is no bean-to-cup machine we’ve found that can compete with the sheer depth of flavour or the flexibility of a good manual espresso machine. The Oracle Touch’s appeal is that it takes both the guesswork and some of the work out of the equation and allows even absolute beginners to produce a very fine array of coffees. The downside? It’s not as flexible as fully manual machines and, once you’ve got the hang of things, you may begin to crave more control. In both of Breville's espresso coffee makers, the steam wand allows you to modify the texture and heat of the milk. This creates a luxurious microfoam texture that accentuates the flavour of your coffee and allows for latte art. Barista Touch vs Sage Oracle Touch Differences • Dual boiler Not least because it does look rather lovely. The touchscreen is bright and colourful and the design and graphics are as pleasingly stylish as the Oracle Touch’s physical exterior. All the cutely-styled little coffee icons are labelled clearly and the interface is pretty easy to understand without having to pore through the instruction booklet – and, moreover, tapping the ‘i’ symbol gives you a helping hand when you need it, so you’ll mostly be able to leave the manual in the drawer. The Sage Oracle Touch also has an automated rinsing, descaling and cleaning mode, so you can easily keep your machine in top condition.

Without a doubt, this machine makes easy and excellent coffee similar to what you’d find in a decent coffee shop. Aside from the very obvious screen differences in the middle of the Oracle and Oracle Touch coffee machines, the two do look quite different. And can look drastically different. You’ll find a pre-infusion function on just about every Breville espresso machine, and you can usually adjust the duration. However, that isn’t possible with the Oracle Touch. That’s a shame, seeing as it can be fun to play with pre-infusion times. Still, what’s most important is that this function is included here. Over Pressure Valve The dual boiler system has been a significant time-saver, enabling me to extract espresso and steam milk simultaneously. This feature has reduced my coffee-making time and allowed me to enjoy my favourite beverages faster. Built-In Grinder

The Oracle Touch delivers superb coffee with a welcome helping hand but you may hanker for greater manual control

I understand you might be curious if my experience with this espresso machine has been beautiful. Unfortunately, while it's been a fantastic journey, it hasn't been without a few hiccups. I once experienced a minor water leak from the water tank caused by an improperly seated water filter. We suggest starting on about 20 and changing to taste – a finer grind usually makes a smoother brew with espresso machines. This technology is superb. When pre-infusing coffee, the machine lightly dampens your coffee grounds, so they swell before the pressure begins.
