The nine-blade diaphragm stops down to f/32-45 as you go through the zoom range, whereas the largest available apertures range from f/4-5.6 focus on them anymore quite annoying since i had to keep shooting so i used manual focus and ended up A very usefull lens, sharp between 70 and 260mm but don't forget stopping down while you increase your focal lengh (ex. 70mm sharp at f/5.6 / 135mm sharp at f/7.1 / 200mm sharp at f/11 etc...) to get the maximum out of it ! Seals are located at the lens mount area and other critical locations to deter infiltration of moisture and/or rain drops and afford Moisture-Resistant Construction. This feature provides an additional layer of protection when shooting outdoors under adverse weather conditions. The difference in image quality between the 70-300 L and the Tamron 70-300 VC is readily apparent in the results.

The Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD Lens is not a small or light lens, but it is average for its class. Tamron has adopted a dedicated design for mirrorless cameras and achieved a compact size once again by fixing the aperture at F/6.3 at the telephoto end. The maximum diameter is 77mm. Measuring just 148mm and weighing a mere 545g, this 70-300mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD is the world’s smallest and lightest telephoto zoom lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras. Compatible with Sony’s popular E-mount cameras, it has been developed with the concept of enabling photographers to more easily experience the universe of full-scale, full-frame 300mm telephoto photography. missing some shots and after 2 weeks it broke down for good and wouldn't focus at all i got it repaired Very little effort required to move the switches - I would prefer them to be more resistant to accidental changes. There is also the risk of a problem that results in the lens and body manufacturers directing blame at each other.

Unlike most lenses who have macro in their name and don't really offer that much max. magnification this was I've been using this lens since March 2020 (bought it brand new), with no issues up until last few days.

In use, we found the auto focusing system to be very quiet and satisfyingly fast with the lens mounted on a Sony A7 III camera, although not quite as snappy as the Sony FE 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 G OSS lens. Full frame sensor format DSLR users should expect to see between 1.5 and just over 2 stops of vignetting in the corners. The Tamron 70-300mm F4.5-6.3 Di III RXD isn't fully weather-proof but it does benefit from a moisture-resistant construction which helps to prevent moisture from penetrating the lens, although we'd hesitate to use it in the rain for a prolonged period. Experience the excitement of bringing distant subjects closer as well as the perspective flattering characteristics achieved by full-scale telephoto photography more easily than ever before. For landscapes, sports, birds and wildlife as well as closer subjects such as portraits and street scenes, this lens expands the range of telephoto photography. All lenses in this comparison cover full frame sensors or can equally be used on a cropped APS-C/DX camera body. [+] One of Nikon's better lenses, the Nikon offers superior sharpness, but poorer CA performance, when compared to the Tamron. We haven't had an opportunity yet to test this lens on a full-frame body. Otherwise, both lenses feature USM style focusing and image stabilization. Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements andoptically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect theimagery.

I have had quite some lenses. With my canon 550d and 5d mark III i had the 50mm prime, the 70-300 IS, the 70-300 IS L, the 70-200 4.0 L and the 70-200 2.8 II (twice). Now i switched to Nikon and i have the 35mm prime and the 18-105 kit lens. While the Tamron 70-300mm's blur characteristics held up quite well on the 5D's larger sensor, shading was another matter. There was a full 1/2 stop of light falloff in the corners at all focal lengths, decreasing as the aperture was stopped down. One stop down cut the falloff about in half, two stops brought it down to a pretty low level. The zoom ring is the larger of the two, rubber with long segmented ribs, measuring about two inches wide. The ring takes about ninety degrees to go from 70mm to 300mm, and does not show any signs of zoom creep. It's nicely cammed and takes only two fingers' worth of force to move it through its zoom range; doing so extends the length of the lens, adding about two inches to its overall length. Weighing in at 545g, the lens feels remarkably lightweight for a telephoto zoom. Indeed, Tamron points out that it’s the world’s smallest and lightest full-frame compatible 70-300mm lens. Even so, build quality feels pretty robust and includes weather-seals. I had to spend a more-than-usual amount of time focus testing this lens - just to confirm what I was seeing.Lenses – The lens has dust inside that may affect images. The rubber zoom/focus ring is coming away from the barrel of the lens. By 300mm, this lens delivers poor image quality across the frame (except on the far left side of the frame). With your subject nearly a metre from the plane of focus, it makes it easy to take frame-filling shots of things that are not very large. The large working distance may make this lens suitable for those looking for a budget introduction to shooting insects or other small things that may get spooked if you get too close.

The Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD Lens features Tamron's Vibration Compensation technology (the VC in the name), promising 4-stops of camera shake assistance.Generating a list of uses for a 70-300mm lens is a daunting task (it includes family life, vacations, landscapes, travel, wildlife), With the introduction of this lens, all photographers, from first-time users of full-scale telephoto zoom lenses to experienced enthusiasts seeking a compact, lightweight telephoto zoom, can comfortably enjoy the advantages of a powerful, versatile zoom without worry about size or weight. Photographers who are shooting with in-camera image stabilization or using a tripod, can reduce the burden of their gear. Moreover, the 70-300mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD maintains good balance even when used with the APS-C sized E-mount cameras that are smaller than full-frame cameras (e.g., Sony α6500); consequently, users can also enjoy photography with an even greater equivalent telephoto zoom appearance of approximately 450mm. Given the 300mm maximum reach, the Tamron 70-300mm F4.5-6.3 Di III RXD is a surprisingly lightweight and compact lens. MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) curves describe to what extent the tested lens can faithfully reproduce contrast of the subject in images it captures. At 300mm, a commonly used telephoto zoom focal length, the design delivers excellent resolution from edge-to-edge. Overall, the efficient optical construction (which also contributes to its lightweight) plus Tamron’s BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating with its well-established reputation for anti-reflection properties, combine to enable the photographer to capture extremely clear, crisp images across the entire zoom range. While the lens features an advanced design with excellent core image quality, optical performance can be enhanced even further by employing the lens correction features found on Sony cameras.
