You are History is a fascinating children's non-fiction book that covers a lot of subjects mainly which children use, are part of or know of. Jenner featured as an expert on the BBC2 television programme Inside Versailles, [13] as well as for the Independent newspaper, discussing historical accuracy in television programmes. [14] Jenner speaks of the importance of including historians in creative projects. “If you phone up a historian and say, ‘tell me 10 stories that would be great movies', we can do that in 20 minutes. Our heads are full of them.” Alex Larman Interviewed by Suzi Feay The Windsors at War: The Royals and the Nazis Weston Lecture Theatre 10:00am Sun 26 Sunday, 26 March 2023 See this event Some children can find history off-putting because it seems too serious, too boring or too removed from their everyday reality. For the history-avoidant, this book does a brilliant job of making history less serious, less boring, and very applicable to everyday life. The vibrant and expressive illustrations really add to the humour and the text is clear, enthusiastic, and conversational. We absolutely love how this book puts young readers at the heart of history as a way of keeping them engaged and entertained.

Did you know that the first television was made out of biscuit tins and knitting needles? Or that the humble paperclip helped lead an anti-war movement? Or that a few hundred years ago it was fashionable to style your hair with cat poo? Find out the delightful, daft and downright deadly history of your everyday life that your teachers won’t tell you about. Greg Jenner Unforgettable History Lessons SOLD OUT Exeter College: Marquee 2:00pm Sun 26 Sunday, 26 March 2023 See this event Greg is also a regular voice on BBC Radio 4, and was resident historian on the science and history series THE ORIGIN OF STUFF, hosted by Katy Brand. In 2019 he wrote and presented a 3 hour radio documentary about historical comedy for BBC Radio 4 Extra called HILARIOUS HISTORIES in which he interviewed Stephen Fry and several other guests. He's made numerous other appearances on British national radio, TV, podcasts, and has written in numerous newspapers and magazines. Whilst doing work experience on Days That Shook the World at Lion TV , however, Jenner felt he had found his answer in historical consultancy. For a few years he continued working on documentaries and period dramas before happening to overhear Lion’s Chief Creative Officer saying they had the television rights to Terry Deary’s series of history books for children. Similarly, scholars of the Restoration Period and Hampton Court staff probably didn't expect to see Mathew Baynton as King Charles II "pimp walking" down the table of the Great Hall, surrounded by uninsurable tapestries, as he did when the crew became the first to ever be given the privilege of filming there.

The night in Oxford was the most beautiful event I have ever done. Not just the spectacular setting (of the Sheldonian), but an unforgettable evening.

I fear my inner nerd is on the loose, but this book was so excellent - I absolutely loved learning about the history of (pretty boring and bog standard) household objects (including cats!) and every day items we use (cars, toilets, soap etc). Richard Herring (6 December 2017). "Greg Jenner — Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast #157". Richard Herring's interview podcasts– via YouTube. Jenner, Greg; Fletcher, Catherine; Wang, Phil (12 February 2021). "The Borgias". You're Dead To Me. BBC Radio 4 . Retrieved 21 August 2021. On TV, he co-hosted BBC2's INSIDE VERSAILLES discussion programme for two series, and was one of the expert panellists on BBC2's THE GREAT HISTORY QUIZ (broadcast on Christmas Eve 2015), joining team captains Lucy Worsley and Dan Snow. Mad Men was incredibly forensic. They were so spot on with their costuming, and really impressive with reading newspapers for that month, that year. They would know exactly what was going on in February 1962.Anthony Horowitz Interviewed by Matthew Stadlen The Twist of a Knife and a Writing Life Sheldonian Theatre 4:00pm Sun 26 Sunday, 26 March 2023 See this event In this hilarious, non-fiction book from writer-historian Greg Jenner, history is made both fun and relevant. History isn’t only found in fancy museums, nor does it have to be about ancient royalty, historical figures, or inventors. History is also about you and me, and the very things we see and use every day! I would be doing what Rattus is doing, saying to the writers ‘no, this is genuinely true’, and we realised we needed a historian not just in the writers' room but also in the show."
