The Wimbledon Poisoner is a classic suburban black comedy of manners, a clichéd description but accurate. I haven’t actually finished this book but am mentally done with it given the unnecessary racism and sexism of the main character. Robert Lindsay plays the downtrodden and desperate solicitor Henry Farr in this highly entertaining black comedy. And if you did spend a lot of time in Wimbledon’s fallout zone, this was a helpful thing to keep in mind. Later, in 1897, the building became a boarding house for King’s College School but was closed a few years later.The story loses a little steam about ¾’s of the way through, but picks up again when the expected plot takes a fun little twist.
