them except under strictly-ritualized circumstances. While neither sex is held as superior to the other, the majority of crusaders and gang fighters tend to be male while females are often taught to be dutiful wives not to question their lot in life. Such women who wish to rise further have limited edtions such as disguising themselves, defecting to another clan, or forming their own gang of like-minded followers. Surprisingly, these female Redemptionist gangs are common and often styled after the Sisters of Silence. [15d] Territories and Industries The Cawdor version of a cult familiar, the Cherub sports a 4+ invuln and can act as an ablative wound for the enterprising ganger. The ability to pass hits off is always solid, and you’ll never know when you need another body for a cheeky coup de grace. Flamers are the weapon of choice for such militant fanatics, as the Emperor is often symbolised as the cleansing fire in these cults' doctrine. Other than Flamers, spiked maces, whirling chainaxes, chainswords and other melee weapons which render and tear flesh in a scourging manner are also extremely popular among Redemptionists. Zealots are the crazed individuals present in Redemptionist cults who have been touched by the Emperor's fury. Zealots are so filled with bile and anger against those who would transgress the God-Emperor's will that they are in an almost permanent state of rage. Blasting Charges: When strapped to bomb rats, Blasting Charges really start to shine. Their shorter range is mitigated, and their potential for destruction cannot be denied. They’re also the cheaper of the two “good” grenades, so go ahead and grab them first. Rating, when strapped to a rat: A

Suspensors: The Heavy Crossbow is really, really good. Wouldn’t it be better if your champ could move and fire with it? Go grab some Suspensors and watch your Crossbow do a ton of work each battle. The Redemptionists are one of the Outlander gangs and as such, are considered as Outlaws. The Redemption is a powerful force amongst the Houses that control Necromunda, with active or covert followers in all of them. House Cawdor has dedicated itself to the Redemptionist cause entirely and is effectively controlled by the Redemption. There the path of righteousness is at its purest with regular public witch hunts and mass burnings of heretics and mutants. The Brethren of Cawdor are so pure that they view even Redemptionists from other Houses as little better than sinners. Outlander (Novel), which gives a story of three House Cawdor gangs, and a sense of day to day Cawdor life As a Heavy Stubber platform that only halfway mitigates the movement restrictions of Unwieldy shooting (it can move in exchange for a loss of accuracy), the brute fails to outpace a regular Cawdor champion with the same weapon in both price and efficacy. Twin-linking the stubber will increase rate of fire and potential damage, but when each shot is only landing on a 4+ or 5+, you’ll be struggling to connect with any of them!

The Cawdor gang can use these Faith Dice to perform Articles of Faith. A fighter can use an Article at the beginning of the activation. Each Article has a target number that needs to be met by rolling a number of Faith Dice from the Faith Dice pool. For instance, you have 3 Faith Dice in your pool, and you are trying to enact an Article of Faith that needs a 5+ to be performed successfully. You decide that 2 dice seems sufficient to get those holy juices flowing (ew, sorry), and you roll a 9! The Article of Faith is performed, and you still have 1 Faith Die in your pool, awaiting use at a later time. Paths of Faith Generally, the “House of ___” books give us a new Champ, new Juve, and a new pet (sorry, Goliaths!). In House of Faith, Cawdor are getting an entire secondary roster: a new Leader, a new Champion, a new Ganger, and a new Juve! We’re talking about new models, new special rules, and new equipment lists, too. This is a lot to digest, but thankfully, we’re here to help break it down. Every house gang gets a special ability, and y’all, Cawdor’s unique brand of shenanigans slaps . Unlike any other gang, the Articles of Faith system is completely free and is used in every single battle . This is huge. Escher and Goliath have very powerful special rules attached to their gangs, but they’re expensive. All Cawdor gangs just get to use Articles of Faith. Full stop. But for Redemptionists, sin exists in every creature, which can be purged only through bloodshed. A few cardinals within the Ecclesiarchy see these cults as breeding grounds for assassins of the faith. Two-handed Axe & Hammer [Word-Keeper, Firebrand, Cawdor Brethren, Zealot]: We’re grouping these two weapons together because they’re both kinda unimpressive. They’re -1 to hit and take up two weapon spots, so the only thing that makes one of them interesting is that there is a little bit of AP here in the Axe. A tooled-up Leader or Specialist might be able to dole out some damage with these, but there are better options out there. Rating: C- Grenades

Fire Pike [Redemptor Priest, Deacon, Redemptionist Brethren]: No, it’s not a long-range melta gun like Aeldari Fire Dragons have. Sheesh, if only. It’s a slightly-upgraded flamer for 10 more credits. It gets a little bit of a boost, here as Redemptionists can’t take blunderpoles, but it’s still awfully pricey for what it does. Rating: C+

Stub Gun [anyone]: It’s hard to beat the humble stubber as the sidearm of choice. 5 credits will take you a long way. Rating: B We’ll be showing off all of the new Redemptionist models on Saturday as part of the latest Warhammer Preview Online so make sure you tune in, or you may be deemed to be a heretic. Master Blaster is still very pricey for what he can actually do. He doesn’t have the BS to be an efficient firing platform, and doesn’t quite have the toughness to be a tank. While he may be the best platform for a heavy flamer , he’s far outclassed by a number of the generic brutes. Blazing Faith: The fighter with this skill can still act normally under the Blaze condition (though they still take damage as normal), and is immune to the Insanity condition. So, this one’s situational, but if you have more than one Cawdor gang in your local playgroup, any other Cawdor players will despise you for showing up to a game with this skill. House Cawdor appears to be named after the real-life Scottish Clan Cawdor, made famous in Shakespeare's play Macbeth, where the eponymous anti-hero becomes Thane (Clan leader) of Cawdor at the start of the play: hence Thane and Thane's Law.

Rules-wise, you’re looking at the mirror image of the Word-Keeper, with all the regular Leader abilities. A Redemptor Priest is a Fanatical fighter, meaning they count towards the Outlaw element of a Cawdor gang. As above, your Redemptor Priest must choose a Path of Faith when they’re recruited. Primary skills are Combat, Leadership, and the new Piety skills, with secondaries being Brawn, Ferocity, and Shooting. They test their faith by plunging headlong into combat with the greatest sinners they can find. They even lash at themselves with whips and flails to savour the pain of purgation, but they would rather carve the path of redemption into their enemies' hearts. House Cawdor uses the unshakable faith of its members to enact minor miracles on the battlefield. Sisters of Battle players will be somewhat familiar with this system. During the End Phase of each round, including the 1st, the Cawdor player rolls a dice for each friendly Cawdor fighter on the board who isn’t Seriously Injured. Any 5’s and 6’s are then added to the Faith Dice pool.Frag Grenades [anyone]: Frag Grenades are usually a solid choice, but with access to Incendiary Charges from the get-go, they lose some luster in a Cawdor gang. Rating: D Chainaxe [Redemptor Priest, Deacon, Redemptionist Brethren]: Incredible value for an excellent weapon. And you can put an exterminator on it! What’s not to love? Rating: A Cawdor have been extremely unique since they showed up in Gang War Four. They exist in the “lots of crappy fighters with some really interesting weapons” niche, and that role has been turbocharged with the release of House of Faith . Cawdor gangs can now start with 2-4 extra fighters in every game, and when you factor in Tactics Cards, Articles of Faith (more on these later!), and everything else, it’s possible for a Cawdor gang to run 10 extra fighters in a game. That’s truly miraculous! Throwing around grenades in a Cawdor gang are a lot less effective when there is the potential for a bunch of templates everywhere. All damage-dealing grenades will have a lessened impact in the land of templates, but the Smoke Grenade still has a necessary purpose. Brethren get access to the same slate of weapons as before, with a couple of extra close combat weapons thrown in. The blunderpole’s still there, though, and that’s all anyone really cares about.

A Mob is when many Redemptionists come together without the leadership of a priest or maybe without any religious guidance at all. Thus a "mob" is generally an incensed rabble of poor citizens who decide to take action against the first group of perceived sinners they can find. Do not suffer the heretic for they have heard the Emperor’s truth and have heeded it not. Force them to penance and then to death. Cawdor Polearm/Blunderbuss [Word-Keeper, Firebrand, Cawdor Brethren]: This is it, right here, y’all. The blunderpole . Cawdor players love them, everyone else fears them. Not only is this easily the best weapon available to a Cawdor gang, it is potentially one of the best weapons in the game . It combines what’s best about a Combat Shotgun (which we love here at Necromunday) with a pretty gnarly versatile weapon, and you can give one to everyone in your gang . The template weapon has two profiles, too, and one of them has the Plentiful trait, which means it automatically reloads should it ever run out of ammo! And then the other profile can set people on fire! This is easily the number one heretic purging weapon available in the Underhive, and you should grab a whole bunch. Rating: A+ Any Cawdor player will be familiar with the Pious members of their gang. They’ve all got new titles, but the Leader, Champions, Gangers and Juves will all be familiar. The new fighters introduced in House of Faith are all Redemptionists, and they’ve got a Leader, Champs, Gangers, and Juves of their own. Stat-wise, both sets of fighters are similar, but Redemptionists are generally a bit more expensive and have access to better gear.

Do not consume narcotics, alcohol or other substances that give pleasure. They are sin given substance. Lots of bodies? I've read thats a big Cawdor strength, and the new rule about getting extra boys at the beginning is really cool. The Redemptionist is, however, only mortal and is susceptible to many of the same depravities, confusions and wounds as any other Human being. Determination and faith do not make one invincible, and many die willingly for their cause. The Deacons of a Redemptionist Cult attend to the secular affairs of the crusade: silencing dissenters, controlling the crowds while the Redemptor priest preaches, protecting his person from defilers and so forth.
