Huawei believes that adding another camera to the mix is precisely the thing to get futurists hot under the collar. Equipped with a total of three rear-facing cameras, the Huawei P20 Pro is far from your bog-standard smartphone flagship but is the addition of a third camera really as important as Huawei suggests? Huawei P20 Pro review: What you need to know So yes, you can have the latest flagship smartphone replace the remote for your 1992 VCR, but first, you'd need to take it out of the box, so let's start with that. Huawei P20 Pro unboxing Camera features: 1/1.7" 40MP sensor, up to ISO 102,400, 3x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom, OIS + EIS, can change focus and lighting in photos after they are taken, Variable Aperture, Portrait Mode, can shoot long-exposure without a tripod Much of the talk of these phones - and the biggest difference - surrounds the cameras. Having used the P20 Pro for some time, we feel it's the best camera in a phone to date. The P20 is also good, but a little step behind its Pro cousin. There's more megapixels on the front, 24 of them in the selfie camera. And you couldn't miss it - it's right there in the notch. Yup, notches are everywhere whether they're needed or not, and whether you like them or not.

The biggest talking point, however, will be the notch at the top of the display, which houses the speaker and front camera. On either phone the notch can be "removed" via software if you don't like it, or set per app as to whether a full-screen display is possible or not. The Huawei P20 Pro comes in a white cardboard box, which contains all the kit you'd need to get started. Underneath the phone, you'll find a set of earbuds that connect via USB-C, but also a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter in case you want to plug your existing headphones. The Huawei P20 Pro – along with the standard Huawei P20– was the first but not the last Huawei phone with a notch, the display cut-out made famous by the iPhone X.models depend on the battery spare parts inventory. Open an album to view or edit images, or to copy them to your computer. To copy files from computer to phone, simply copy them to the shared folder. It is also possible to edit files directly inside the shared folder, and the files can be displayed on both your phone and computer. Want to know just how good the Huawei P20 Pro is, to see if a slightly older yet more affordable smartphone is the right fit for you? Read on to find out our full thoughts. The rear of both phones is glass, held together with a metal core, giving lovely curved edges. iPhone X comparisons will be inevitable in terms of design, except we think the pair might look even better thanks to smaller bezel and a wider range of colours. And it's the Twilight colour of the P20 Pro that everyone will be talking about - because its pink-to-turquoise gradient looks ace.For all the abundance of pixels in the cameras (some 96MP combined), there are not all that many pixels on the screen - the 6.1-inch AMOLED panel has a FullHD+ resolution of a Huawei-specific variety (1080 x 2240px) to account for the notch. Pixel density of 408ppi isn't even close to the 529ppi of the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. The only time you're likely to notice though is when using a phone-based VR headset – and if that fad isn't dead, it is at least dormant. Other parts of the phone are a little more conventional. We get the Kirin 970 CPU used in the Huawei Mate 10, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Note that the Mate 20 Pro has since appeared boasting the Kirin 980 CPU. So, is that triple camera setup really necessary? Well, yes, but even after more than two weeks with the handset, I feel I need more time with Huawei’s latest flagship to draw any firm conclusions about its intriguing new camera getup. Following my time with the phone, though, there’s no doubt that it offers an interesting new proposition for the avid smartphone photographer but it does have its weaknesses, too.
