Description

Its rich bucket-brigade warmth, elegant simplicity, and healthy reserve of delay time have endeared it to guitar players around the world—weekend warriors and recording pros alike. In the first steel sound sample you'll hear the MOD off for the first set of notes and on for the second set. Set it to minimum for just a single repetition of the input signal, or turn it past 2 o’clock for a self-oscillating wall of sound. With a bright switch for more top-end (if you want the delays to cut through the mix) and a modulation switch which adds a chorusy tone to your repeats. When the pedal is on it gives a subtle presence to your overall sound, this helps to retain clarity but it does not effect the comforting sound of those decaying repeats.

Unlike other modern analog delay pedals that produce brighter, clearer repeats (check out our review of the Boss DM-2W), the Carbon Copy embraces the darker and warmer sound of vintage bucket brigade pedals. Housed in the classic “Phase-90-size” casing, if you’ve had any experience with MXR pedals you’ll know that these things are as tough as they come. I use it in the fxloop to fat up my sound, because is anolog and very dark sounding, sometimes to hear the repeats the only thing to do is to play in palm mute otherwise it will completely blend with the dry signal. With the mix down and the Delay and Regen on the lower-end, you get light Nashville-like slapback for all your chicken pickin' needs.

Peach Guitars is a credit broker and is Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Use the Delay and Regen controls to dial in the time between repeats—up to 600ms—and how many repeats you want, and then use the Mix control to set the wet to dry signal ratio.Fans of digital delay might want to give this pedal a go because it offers more than a standard analog delay pedal- up to 600ms delay time, subtle modulation and warm clarity.

Whether you're new to the world of delay or an old pro in need of a no-nonsense workhorse, the MXR M-169 Carbon Copy is a great choice when choosing an analog delay pedal. The Bright switch toggles between the original Carbon Copy pedal’s dark, mellow wash and the Bright version’s vibrant articulation. The MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay features a completely analog audio path for the ultimate in rich, warm delay - made possible only by old-school bucket brigade technology. On the tonal side, the Carbon Copy Deluxe Analog Delay lets you choose between the original s dark, mellow wash and the vibrant articulation of the Bright version with the push of a switch. But this double switch carbon copy deluxe has a tap tempo on-board which means you can easily get your guitar in-sync with the song you're playing at the time. From testing the pedal with guitar and bass I found that it did not in any way effect my EQ settings. CITES regulations concerning the export of items containing certain woods affect any guitar sold ouside of the European Union and which contains any quantity of either Rosewood or Bubinga.
