After he’s revealed to be a Fae and having lied to Estrella the whole first book he’s insistent that it’s her problem and she should get over it cause she loved him as a human. The King really was something else in this, also the whole "lost purity thing" and now won´t be able to get married is quite sexist, but hey, like I said, I feel like this is middle age times. However, I do not think this takes away from the very essence of the story that Woods' is telling us. Estrella did push away a lot because of the events at the end of book 1 and I understand her hesitation to allowing herself to trust Caelum again and giving herself completely to him but you know deep down his love for her is true and real.

Sure he's low-key villain adjacent but he treats the heroine like a damned princess, keeps her satisfied in all ways, and has stated quite a few times that he would burn the world down if she's not in it. Just know this review comes right after I finished the book and it might be a little all over the place. I'll fill you with so much of my c*m that they can smell it on you tomorrow and remember exactly who you belong to. The day she is supposed to die, turns into a nightmare, making her the most wanted target of her kingdom. I touched my fingertips to one of the scars in the center of his spine, feeling his body still at my touch.This book has been on my TBR for so long because I wasn’t quite sure if it would live up to the hype surrounding it.

but its filler i found worth reading because caelums love for estrella is what dreams are made of and the mystery surrounding estrella, what she is, and her powers is enough to keep me hooked. And this was obviously done to piss off Caelum and have him show everyone in the Resistance that Estrella is his. So first off I want to thank this amazing author for inviting me to help with first round edits, I LOVED THIS SO MUCH. He cares for her to keep her away from the fae, and doesn’t like it when she goes out at night, but doesn’t ask questions on what lord Byron does with her in private?There was an especially misogynistic characters introduced, and I think the point was to emphasize feminism by giving Estrella a chance to stand up for herself, but all these conversations just made me cringe so much. During her escape she runs into Caelum, another fae marked, and they decide they have a better chance of surviving together than they do apart.

There are a lot of things we are left unsure about, leaving room for both characters to develop and grow as the story continues.

This book was like A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire had a baby with A Ruin of Roses, but not in a good way because all the characters and plot points felt recycled from one or the other of those two stories. It will contain every fae alphahole trope from jealous motherf*cka to i will protect you even from yourself. However we are led to believe it's Estrella with all the powers she is displaying but once they go to the Fae world - Fallon starts changing and it's revealed it's her. Frankly at this point you just need to read my review for We Hunt The Flame, everything i said there still applies here and then some.
