If you’ve been following my social media channels it shouldn’t be a surprise why I read this book. Always on the hunt for new crafting techniques, I loved how the author presents the art of crafting with paper to the reader. This book is full of projects for crafters of all levels, and I look forward to trying out some of these ideas. I thank NetGalley and the publisher, Storey Publishing, LLC for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I gave this book three and a half stars rounded down to three stars. Quilling is my favorite and there are not that many sources outside of the quilling world. When I saw this book, I knew it was for me. I was excited to see origami in the book too since I have always wanted to learn but had been intimidated. The step-by-step instructions made it so easy that I cannot believe it took me this long to learn it. I was blown away by the reconstructed Bauhaus Exercise. It is delicate and detailed but with the instructions, anyone that can use a craft knife can do it. Paper is a magical and diverse material… . Paper can be both a surface (used in practical and artistic ways) and a work of art in and of itself."

Hiebert treats us to full-color renditions of her paper-thin fine art, beautifully photographed and presented for all of us to admire. Like a cookbook, this author shares the necessary tools, techniques, and methods for creating paperwork masterpieces. Then she instructs, informs, and inspires.QUILLED CARD @ 8 Bcroll Hear-t V Scroll Shapi.ng Experímentíng Most quilled shapes are created by making adjustments Experiment to create the other shapes. Would you like to learn a bit more about papercrafting besides just "cut here" and "fold there"? This is the book for you! Note: you'll also learn where to cut and fold, but you get the idea lol! There are lots of fun projects interspersed with profiles of paper artists featured in the book. The projects take the reader through a variety of techniques and skill levels, and the instructions are clear and well-photographed, making it easy to learn and improve one's skills. There's a visual guide section discussing ways to make your own paper, how to decorate paper, and fastening/connection methods. The last methods mentioned are shown in the book, but I understand not showing all the papermaking and decorating techniques, as the author does have a separate book on that. Hiebert includes a nice chonky resources list of suppliers, books, and where to find more on the artists featured in the book, and all the templates for the projects. While I think this is a fine book for beginners, to me it feels most suitable to those who've had some experience with papercrafting and want to learn more. I'd say this is a book anyone interested in papercraft should have on their shelf. The construction chapter is where it gets more involved with the adding of adhesives, embroidery, electronics, and more. There are twenty-two projects in this section, again with photographic and written instructions. I am impressed by the organization and clear instructions in The Art of Papercraft. The end of the book has a dictionary of terms, bibliography and extensive list of resources as well as templates for projects. The Art of Papercraft will inspire crafters, dabblers, and paper afficionados of all ages.I come from a long line of artists and crafters, and paper crafting is just another way of expressing our creativity and talent. Hiebert’s book offers new ways to look at manipulating paper in ways you might not have considered before.

First, I would like to extend thanks to Net Galley and Storey Publishibng for providing this book without charge in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This book was a nice surprise! Paper is one of my “life loves”. I love the feel of paper texture and I’m always on the lookout for unique paper types, especially when using paper for cards for special people in my life. I loved severa things about this book: The Folding chapter provides eight projects for a variety of ways to fold a piece of paper. Each project comes with written instructions alongside photographs for each of the steps in the written part. It tells you also the size of paper required if any tools are needed or templates. The Art of Papercraft Unique One-Sheet Projects Using Origami, Weaving, Quilling, Pop-Up, and Other Inventive Techniques by Helen Hiebert is a unique book full of paper creations for children to adults. Well designed and the steps are greatly appreciated which encourages anyone from a beginner paper artist to an experienced paper artist. Ideal for those rainy days, family time on the weekends or even to do by oneself or as a group of friends or family during short or long holiday breaks. Envelopes, paper gift boxes can be created in the correct size to put in your created pieces to send. Instructions that guide you to the correct tools, paper and other much needed equipment or tools to complete the paper art. I’m certainly going to buy the actual book and keeping on the art, craft and hobbies section of the bookshelf. A paper art book I recommended for any family who loves to create paper art, crafts and hobbies or families who wish to begin a new way to create paper art and interact and communicate in togetherness. The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. The book also contains useful suppliers and source lists, full size templates, metric conversion chart, and links to online paper-arts groups and other resources. When I started reading the section with projects, I was a little wary at the simplicity of them. However, the book showcases a nice progression of projects. They are organized by different papercraft techniques, and progress from easy to more and more difficult. The photo and text instructions are well laid out and fun to follow, and there are over forty projects to try out. As a child I recall going to a paper mill in the Cheddar Gorge area and seeing how the fibres come together, so knew this book 'The Art of Papercraft' would be interesting to review. Next up, Invitation to Draw: 99 Drawing Prompts Designed to Inspire Kids’ Creativity by Jean Van’t Hul is a Roost Books title that is grandchild approved.

The results therefore cover a wide range of approaches and difficulties. Depending on your expectations and needs, that can be both great... or not so great.Overall, this was a delightful introduction to papercraft, and I enjoyed reading it! I would recommend it to anyone looking to get into papercraft, and for any library craft sections. Some of the projects would also work well for library programming for children, adults, or teens.
