Description

A little girl takes the monster by the hand and gently helps the Color Monster untangle and separate out all of these feelings and put them into jars.

From engaging tuff trays, to eye-catching display items, our EYFS and KS1 resources perfectly complement this beloved children's book. To craft these cute monsters, you’ll need nothing more than empty toilet rolls, brightly-colored paints, scissors, and a black marker. This hands-on activity enforces this notion visually by having learners attach colorful felt squares to a Color Monster cut-out.The daily check-in is great to do every morning as pupils enter the classroom as it prompts pupils to think about how they feel and gives staff the opportunity to identify any children who many feel a negative emotion and may not want to approach an adult to tell them. There are some questions in the clip after the story which might help to scaffold a discussion around the story. It has had a positive impact on children’s emotional awareness, and I have received great feedback from other teachers and parents. There are large colour monster displays containing pictures and words in each classroom so the children can add their name card to the emotion they are feeling. Pop it on as they engage in a coloring activity or simply use it as a brain break and invite learners to sit back, relax, and enjoy!

The book identifies five feelings of happy, sad, angry, fearful, and calm, but I wanted to make sure if other feelings came up there would be space for them so I included eight. The Colour Monster' is here to teach children about feelings, as each beautiful colour leads to an emotion.Through our new Local History resources, we want to provide you with everything you will need to confidently carry out an engaging local history project with your Key Stage two class. Once your learners have completed the writing task, invite them to share their memories with the class and connect with others.

This makes sense as to why my most favorite line in the book is “ Sometimes, you want to take out your anger on others. It will also help children build understanding and empathy towards others, as in the story the emotions areattached to deep descriptions of how the little furry Monster feels inside.

You need to know that The Colour Monster is a story that gently and effectively explores our 6 main emotions. Print out a page for each learner and prompt them to use a color from the book to color in their monster to represent how they’re feeling. Parents may want to read the story again with the children or invite the children to tell them the story, using their own home-made monsters from last week’s resources.

Cut out the pictures and fill the jars with items that represent the different feelings in the story. The book also emphasizes being able to feel and honor whatever feeling comes up and tell us that it is OK to feel all of these feelings, it is okay to listen to our bodies, and it is okay to cry! Not only has it got warming pictures that are illustrated in such a creative way, but Anna Llenas takes re-cycling to a new level - she has used cardboard and paper to create such appealing illustrations that greet you on the layout of every page. Our range of interactive "edutainment" games are built with one purpose in mind: to make learning FUN! Use Scratch (or a similar coding platform) to program a monster that changes colour when you press different keys (or when another action takes place). It’s important to remind young learners that, at times, we may feel more than 1 emotion, or may not even be able to verbalize how we’re feeling at all! I have tried this on multiple computers so I am thinking the way that it downloaded for you is an individual computer issue (ie both of the worksheets should not be on the same page and are not when I access my copy).
