Type of Record Cleaner: Fluid and kit | Pros: Very gentle and effective | Cons: Very dirty old records may benefit from a stronger fluid This refill is one of the essential parts of the GroveWasher product that simply works great. Gently cleans the record surface lifting out all the accumulated dirt and grime with ease." Richard Villanova

Many collectors sing the praises of ultrasonic cleaning for its ability to deep clean vinyl records without the need for brushes to scrub the surface physically. The process has long been popular in the jewelry industry for cleaning tiny cavities. As the saying goes, there’s more than one way to shine a penny. That said, I’ve been using GrooveWasher products on my records for over five years now, and I find they work exceptionally both manually by hand and in conjunction with a record cleaning machine. Drip stand (drying stand) with collection tray for up to 15 LPs or singles (slides into the case after use). In the HumminGuru, HappyWell (the company behind the product) has succeeded in making ultrasonic record cleaning easier and more accessible. For that, they should be applauded, and we can’t wait to see how they develop the product from here.

Super wetting agent: A specialty chemical that reduces the G2 Fluid's surface tension to reach the bottom of the groove. When you spray G2 Fluid on a record you can see it spread down the grooves. Aside from the core record cleaning fluid, their complete record cleaning kit—featuring a cleaning pad with a solid walnut handle—makes light work of cleaning vinyl records by hand.

Mixing bottle (for preparing the cleaning liquid from Disco-Antistat Ultraclean and Disco-Antist BiDest) Curious to see how a surfactant could improve the result, I added a drop of GrooveWasher’s G-Sonic concentrate to the water tank. G-Sonic is a surfactant and emulsifier blend that helps aid the cleaning process and break water surface tension. This is simply the best cleaning fluid available today. I highly recommend this product and this company." Dan B

The drying cycle worked fairly well, but a few droplets of water did remain on the surface. I dried the last couple of drops with a microfiber pad, but for me, this shows that a ten-minute drying cycle is a requirement. I struggle to see how five minutes would be enough. Cleaning Results: with added Surfactant Disco-Antistat Ultraclean Concentrate, works deep into the groove and cleans your records gently and thoroughly even from stubborn dirt. The HumminGuru did succeed in significantly improving the sound of this record, albeit I would say you need the surfactant to unleash the full cleaning power of this machine. For heavier cleaning needs, choose the *Two-Step G3 Record Cleaning Fluid. It's the same formulation as GrooveWasher's One-Step G2 Fluid with one important difference: An increased surfactant concentration for greater power to get down and do the dirty work!

Stepping up to a purpose-made record cleaning machine can help improve the results and make light work of cleaning records in bulk. Ultrasonic cleaning works through high-frequency sound waves transmitted through liquid to scrub clean the surface of immersed parts. The high-frequency sound waves agitate the liquid solution, and cause the 'cavitation' of the solution's molecules. Cavitation means that bubbles are formed when sonic energy creates a void (or cavity) which gets trapped as a bubble in the liquid. Both of the new pads are a welcome addition to my record cleaning arsenal. Admittedly, if you don’t own more than one GrooveWasher walnut handle, then swapping from one pad to the other isn’t quite as convenient, but you can always add more handles as and when you can afford. Ultrasonic cleaning for vinyl records is an interesting concept. It works by using high-frequency pressure sound waves to agitate a liquid, producing tiny cavitation bubbles. Lots of tiny bubbles produce forces, which help to gently lift dirt, dust, and grime from the record grooves.California Prop 65 WARNING: This product can expose you to one or more chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and/or birth defects. For more information, go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov. GrooveWasher offers its products with an implied mutual good faith with the consumer that the products will be used according to the instructions and will perform within reasonable expectations. If this continues, clean the record side again because it isn't truly clean yet. Please keep in mind that the accumulation of grime on the stylus is not G2 Fluid. It is the grime in the groove that G2 Fluid has loosened but is difficult for the microfiber pad to remove. G2 does not fix scratches or scuffs. Once the signal in the microgroove is lost, nothing will recover it. Carefully place the record on the yellow microfiber towel included in your GrooveWasher kit. (If your kit does not include this towel, use a soft clean cloth or towel). Place the record label protector disk on the record label. Spray 5 or 6 mist sprays to completely cover the record surface. Wait 10 seconds or more.
