Poly Sync 40: PC via combined USB-A and USB-C cable; smartphone via Bluetooth. Poly Sync 40+: PC via combined USB-A and USB-C cable or wirelessly via included BT600 Bluetooth adapter; smartphone via Bluetooth

In this blog, I don’t intend to pour through the many personal speakerphone options you have. Instead, I’m going to compare two models from two companies on the list above. Specifically, I’ll be comparing the Jabra Speak 710, and the newer Poly Sync 20. The Poly Sync 20+ makes for a good calling device when connected to your phone or PC. Callers on the other side report good voice clarity with no perceivable clipping or disturbances. The microphone frequency response is rated between 100 Hz and 6.7 kHz, so do not expect too much of a bass effect in the voice. That being said, the quality is more than sufficient for regular phone calls and online meetings. The added bonus is that the Sync 20+ supports noise and echo reduction, which should result in call quality better than your average laptop or smartphone microphone. Streamlined and intuitive functionality are central to the Poly Sync 20’s design. Now you can switch between your favorite functions – such as play or pause music, last number redial, voice assistant, and more – with the touch of the programmable button. At a glance, Poly Sync’s highly visible LED light indicator bar lets you know the call status – even from a distance. 7 – Certified for Use with Your Favorite Platform You can’t go wrong with either of these models, as both are of high quality and manufactured by reputable companies. Determine what your specific needs are and then use the information brought out in this review, and others, to help form your buying decision. With so many Poly solutions certified by Microsoft Teams, it’s not always easy to make a decision about which device is best suited to you. We took this opportunity to breakdown some of the key benefits of using a portable speakerphone for your remote collaboration needs. Both of these personal speakerphones have their strong points. The Sync 20 is a very attractive product with a modern technological look. It sounds good, it looks good, it’s priced right and it has a useful USB port to charge your phone.

As our professional lives continue to trend toward hybrid working models, the need to sound professional is paramount. And let’s face it – the audio that comes through your laptop and smartphone isn’t great. Meaning, to sound professional, you’ll need professional-grade communication tools. Introducing the Poly Sync 20 USB/Bluetooth® smart speakerphone, designed specifically for today’s professional – it’s sleek, compact, and filled with smart features you might not even realize you need. However, I feel fairly safe in saying that most people who use a product like this, aren’t in noisy environments. Still, good to know before making your buying decision. Talk time With a good deal of today's workforce increasingly opting for remote work, a good speakerphone that augurs well for collaboration has become essential to overcome limitations in conventional laptop and smartphone audio setups. For example, the USB-A port for device charging is a nice touch, meaning you can effectively use the Sync 20 as an emergency power bank (provided the device’s own battery is at medium or higher). So, if you’d like to see them up close and personal, as well as hear how they both sound, and compare, I urge you to watch the video. I One feature that’s pretty cool on the Sync 20 is it has a USB port that can be used to charge a mobile phone even when being used for a meeting. That’s a nice feature because it seems mobile phone batteries are always needing a charge.

However, beyond shifting the device from room to room to accommodate a flatmate or family member, it’s difficult to imagine a scenario in which portability will prove all that useful. Owners are unlikely to take the Sync 20 to an office or coffee shop, where it would be impolite to play meeting audio out loud, and much more likely to keep it on their desk at home Features The audio and microphone quality are solid enough for video conferencing, but the Sync 20 doesn’t stand up particularly well if you want to play music. And while the smart aesthetic and small footprint allow the speakerphone to sit tidily on your desk, and there are a few handy features, performance quirks detract from the experience.Although the BT600 Bluetooth dongle that comes with the Sync 20 is the same one that comes with various other Poly products, a single dongle cannot tether to multiple devices at once. This means that if you want to switch between the Sync 20 and a Poly headset, you’ll need multiple dongles plugged into your PC or laptop. Performance The Sync 20+ is built well and is very portable. It is easy to use and requires virtually no setup apart from pairing it with the source device either wired or wirelessly. Using the Poly Lens app is optional, but it does allow you to perform device maintenance and customization. Call quality is good and serves the purpose well for cellular and VoIP calls. The freedom to move around the room hands-free without having to worry about audibility on the other side of the call will be appreciated by many. Business will also like the optional Teams and Zoom certification. The Sync 20+ is also a capable multimedia speaker as long as you keep expectations tempered. Quantitatively, we found the Poly Sync 20+ to have a decent sound signature with the speaker performing its best near the mids. We low observed low THD and noise, but overall we recorded an SNR of just 51.4 dBFS. Battery life is decent, but the battery life reporting is not always accurate. To complicate matters further, Poly offers special Microsoft Teams versions of both the Sync 20 and Sync 20+, both with either USB-A or USB-C connectivity. This makes for a total of eight different SKUs. Plantronics Hub desktop and mobile versons. Plantronics Manager Pro suites: Asset Management and Adoption
