Nose: At first the soft peat smoke is strong but then it recedes to the background and the familiar Jura note of lactic vanilla rises up.

While I don’t think quite merited Jura’s apparent decision to get rid of all their other whisky “expressions,” Jura 10 Year Old is certainly excellent base around which to build their new brand.

A sip envelopes the tongue with a rich and mellow vanilla, slightly smoky like crème brûlée crust, but balanced by a subtly sweet flavor of golden raisins.

Palate: Oily and subtly spicy at first, before notes of earthy vanilla pod and chocolate-covered raisins develop.
