Description

The front of the device has a matte finish and below its surface lies a single circular LED which flashes in different colours indicating various states of operation. There are a number of high-quality Bluetooth codecs to choose from including aptX, aptX HD, AAC and LDAC. Your preferred codec can be chosen within the Earstudio app. in “misc control” there are settings related to mic volume, system tone volume, LED colour settings and Bluetooth hands-free profile; The Earstudio ES100 is a tiny little thing, smaller in size than an average matchbox. The chassis is constructed from a lightweight plastic. It doesn’t feel especially premium but it doesn’t feel cheap either A notable difference between these 2 devices is their build materials. Compared to the plastic of the ES100, the FiiO has a gorgeous aluminium alloy chassis wrapped in 2.5D glass.

In terms of audio quality, the Ampio performs well. Compared to the Earstudio’s AK4375a, the Ampio uses the DAC function embedded in the Qualcomm CSR8675. The quality doesn’t differ all that much but the ES100 has a higher output power and lower noise floor. At the heart of the Earstudio are two AK4375a DAC/HPAMP ICs and they really do provide an incredible sound, particularly when used in conjunction with a high-quality codec such as aptX HD or LDAC.

The EQ supplements the nearly-missing EQ functionality of the iPhone's Music app nicely. The interface is intuitive and easy to use. For me, the unbalanced way is in High performance mode 99% of the time even with must of my IEM because I feel it give better dynamic and imaging than normal mode. There are two modes on this digital piano: duel and split. This gives you the option of using two different voices/soundsI could not make the ES100 work reliably with Linux, so I asked the people at Radsone for some help and they told me to modify the default bit depth and sample rate in PulseAudio, setting them to 16 bit / 48 kHz. That gave me the inspiration to look in the settings of the mobile application, where I found there is a 16 bit / 48 kHz mode you can use in place of the 16 bit / 44.1-48 kHz mode. Using the 48 kHz mode actually fixed all the issues I was experiencing and the unit started working flawlessly. So although the EarStudio ES100 is not officially supported by Radsone under Linux, this little bit makes it perfectly functional. EarStudio ES100 BASS of X3II feel less impactfull and full bodied, especially in mid bass where the punch is smoothed while the ES100 is a little emphased and have tigh fast approach that never feel hollow even if not with as much decay than X3II. I'm not a big EQ user, because must included with DAP did not work well, but this one take me by suprise and is fun to play with as well. It really can modulate sound rendering precisely and I solve some earbuds and iem sound issue with it, like earbuds that was bass anemic became more bassy without creating distortion or artificial rendering, wich was just incredible really. This EQ is a masterpiece IMO.
